Guest guest Posted May 2, 2007 Report Share Posted May 2, 2007 I do not think that it is necessary to keep abuse quiet or private. The word needs to be out. Many of us were verbally and physically abused. I remember telling my high school counselor that my dad was mean to me, yelling, hitting and she asked me what I was doing to provoke it!!!!!!!!!!! This happened in 1980!!! This is not a private issue. Many women are in abuse type situations and they need to know that there are people out there to help them. The word needs to be out and abusers need to be stopped. I would run outside screaming, hoping my dad would be too embarrassed to follow me outside to hit me. I was innocent. None of the neighbors every came over to see what was going on, it was ignored. I do believe that all of this abuse has something to do with my nervous behavior. I have a hard time trusting people too. I feel anxious a lot. I think that can contribute to yeast problems which contribute to vulvar issues in some cases. I don't think its EVERYONES cause, but I do think if I handled stress better, I would not have developed any yeast issues. This is coming from a woman who was hit and cussed out as a child for doing nothing wrong. We had to pay for my dad hating his job and his lack of being unable to control his angry. My mom did nothing. I would NEVER be offended by a doctor asking me this question. I wish a doctor would have asked me this in 1980 when I went in for my physicals. Maybe I could have been helped.
