Guest guest
Hi guys, In a book called Restoring Your Digestive Health by Jordan Rubin and ph Brasco MD, they talk about the dangers of S. Thermophilus and how they recommend trying to find a yogurt starter that does not contain it. What they basically say is that studies have shown that people who suffer from autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis run the risk of aggravating symptoms from this strain. Also they say it causes a shift in immune function in people with allergies and other illnesses, those who have a weakened immune system already. They say they have found that goat's milk cultured for thirty hours without the s. thermophilus is good, using the acidophilus, bulgaricus, etc. Anyway, the Custom Probiotics has thermophilus in it, and I am just wondering what your thoughts on it are and maybe Elaine's. Thanks a lot, Tina
Guest guest
S. Thermophilus is one of the strains that ferments the yogurt.... but does not take up residence in the gut. It's there to do the fermenting work. Jordan Rubin is the Primal Defense guy..... isn't he? The one that proposes using the soil based organisms? From what I've heard about him...... and about Primal Defense...... I would be hesitant to take advice from him on digestive health..... or anything else. Patti, mom to Katera S.
