Guest guest
A tanning salon is the dumbest thing someone with rosacea can do!? Why would you go and do that? No matter what consequences it has short term, it'll come back as a complete disaster in the long term. To me it seems like you're stressing waaaaaay to much and taking way too many things. cea is as psychological as it is physical, and if you can't get your mind in the right state by relaxing, it'll be impossible to beat it. I think what you should do is keep it simple and relax otherwise I can't imagine any combination of drugs in the world helping matters when you're stressing so much. Plus the tanning salon idea will come back to haunt you probably 10x as worse as you started in the long run. I understand this is a support group but Mike, you really need to find something else to focus on or you'll never beat this thing no matter what you take! Relax first, find something simple to help, and concentrate on the good things in life, otherwise it's going to be tough! Guest guest
I have to add continued use of tanning booths can cause skin cancer. It's worse than going out in the sun because it has concentrated UV. A friend of mine who just loves getting a tan and is fair skinned with blue eyes, had a couple of pre-cancerous lesions removed from her legs recently. (She's 33.) Thank goodness it wasn't melanoma. Postpone your sessions and think about it. Salons can apply self-tanner on your body to ensure you get a nice looking fake tan. Isn't that just as much money and better for your skin than sessions at the tanning booths? Matija > A tanning salon is the dumbest thing someone with rosacea can do!? Why would > you go and do that? Guest guest
Mike, I'm sure your being bombarded with email about your tanning visit and I won't be judgemental because I know how you feel. I did just have a few precancerous lesions removed at age 28. This made me sell my tanning bed last month. If you do decide to go, let me know how it turns out for you. I haven't tanned in months now and won't use tanning beds again because I really feel like that played a large role in " bringing out " my rosacea and precancerous cells. But I don't entirely plan to stay out of the sun or not get a tan at all this summer either. I will use some type of sunblock though which is good for me because normally I would buy the amplifiers. The only thing is I was just recently diagnosed with this " R " and don't know how my face is going to react to the sun this summer. I also drive a convertable and don't plan on keeping my top UP any this summer. Anyway, let me know how it goes. I have found some WONDERFUL self tanning lotion. You have to buy it on QVC or HomeShopping Network. (I forget which one) but I have all the info. you need. I just have to look for it. The name of it is Toma's Tan. Good luck. Guest guest
hi. having the problems with light such as i have makes one into sort of a walking soapbox. this site is much more eloquent than i am and gives much information on tanning beds and many other aspects of uv light. Everything Under The Sun cenia
Guest guest
Mike, I agree with and Matija 100%. Going to a tanning booth with rosacea and photosensitivity would be like pouring gasoline on a fire. Jim Clary, Dallas TX
Guest guest
I never said I had photosensitivity.. im sure you and others with the meds your on are more prone to photosensitivity than I am.. I am not tanning my face, I use sunless tanners for that, I am going to tan my neck down. it will be safe! i only have a facial disease. bye Mike

Egads, I can't think of anything that would be worse for my rosacea. If the sun makes you red, as your post said, I would bet money that tanning salon would to. Why do you think it's going to help? Mind you, I'll root for you but I am worried. Be careful, OK? Esther
