Guest guest
I have an autistic brother age 27. when was born, he was a normal baby. 2 weeks after birth, my mother got manic depression so went to the hospital and was forced to stop breastfeeding him. so her medications will not harm the baby. (which is not true!) he was by my grandparents. for 5 mohths he was unvaxed baby. when my mom was supposed to come back home, my parents got a letter from the pediatrician that the baby missed his scheduled vaccinations. my father took my brother to the pediatrician and he got vaxed with DTP and IPV (back then in 1977, no more than 2 shots) but after that my parents realized he wasn't same like before. he was crying nonstop. He was an unhappy crancky baby. my father blamed it on the grandparents being terrible babysitters (which is not true, why in all the 5 months he was fine?!) until now my parents dont' believe its because of the vaccinations, and me too, I am not sure! about myself, I found out by my family that as baby I used to respond to sounds and I babbled but when I grew up, I stopped to respond to noises, and I was found out to be deaf. so I don't know if its from birth or not. my parents don't remember me as responsive to sounds, as they didn't pay attention, but my aunt does remember that whenever had noise I used to turn the head around.. whatever! back to my brother, his behavior symptoms are: as a young boy, he used to be restless. the communication was minimal. he used to love to play with lego for hours. he sometimes looked in the eyes and if wanted something he would pull at the sleeve and point at what he wants. he was on ritalin. when got older than age 8, he used to have controlless tanturms, which he ran in all house, throwing things and biting himself and screaming. he used to storm into my bedroom and starting to throw and throw my stuff. he even threw off my TV on the floor. Then he got strong medicines to calm him down. now he loves to play with puzzle for hours, and if he doesn't have patience he just tears it and chews it. he loves to tear materials, by puling threads out of them. he is obbsessed with 'finishing' things. if there is any unfinished bottle on the table he would get angry, drink from it again and again. if he is unable to finish it, he would spill the bottle on the floor! also he has craving for pickles and drinking the brine. he can eat pickled hot peppers pop them in his mouth like bagels, obviously he doesn't feel the spiciness! my mom wants to know what can be done to check to find out the reason of autism? what about mercury hair anylisis? we live in brooklyn, New York, so where can she refer to? and whatever the finding is, what can be done to get him out of autism, even partially? (in his age, is it too late?)
