Guest guest
I also just ordered one. I've wanted one for ages and this was a good excuse. I mainly want it for the onions from my garden; I love the convenience of dried onions but the best I can figure the purchased ones have starch like all the other dried foods. Excalibur is supposed to be very high end, but I can't vouch for anything except the reputation since I haven't actually used one. Alice Mama to , Aspie, SCD 3 weeks _____ From: motherbear27811 Subject: excalibur commercial dehydrator I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this dehydrator? I am mostly getting it so that I can make large batches of yogurt. My whole family is SCD and we are going through the stuff faster than I can make it. Dehydrating fruits and vegitables sounds interesting, is this a great addition to the diet?
Guest guest
I like mine alot. You can dry soaked pumpkin seeds in there. There really are alot of things, that I haven't tried yet. It heats evenly, but does make a low humming sound. Yogurt is a breeze, and you can dehydrate herbs for the winter. Dried fruit comes out really good, but is probably too hard to digest for early in SCD. I went to a class where they demonstrated a pizza crust made in this dehydrator which consisted of mostly nuts and some seeds. Delicious. I'll try it myself and post it sometime if it works. > I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this > dehydrator? I am mostly getting it so that I can make large batches > of yogurt. Guest guest
Thanks for the tips. Pumpkin seeds sound great. My husband is always looking snacky kinds of things so that would be great. How do vegetables come out? I'm looking for some kind of healthy alternative to nuts, which we all love of course but they don't digest too well.
