Guest guest
Joann, I just wrote you an e-mail about meds, and I don't mean to jump in here but I don't want you to stress too much about going off the Neurontin. It is true, it can be extremely dangerous to go off of this medication, and a couple people in this group had a hard time, but it doesn't mean Everyone will have problems going off this med. I was weaned off extremely slowly and as I said I was on a fairly high dose of 2700mg a day. I was worried because I live alone, but I set up a phone system with my sister and I would check in with her 3 timse a day, just to be on the safe side. I decreased the pills as my doctor instructed and though it took some time to get off of them I had absolutely no problems at all. So please don't stress yourself too much, just be aware that it can be dangerous and listen to how your doctor instructs you...you should be fine. <hugs> Lori
Guest guest
I too had no trouble going off of Neurontin and I was on 3600mg per day. Of course, I never felt like I was taking anything when I was on it either, so who knows. Each person's body chemistry is different. Unfortunately, while we all have the same thing what may be be helpful for one person may not help someone else at all. Sure would be nice if it was like a strep throat and just say AHA !!! take an antibiotic. Not everything is simple. Guest guest
Lori, This is Debbie Ducote from Louisiana, I haven't written in a while b/c I have been having too many problems and haven't felt like getting online. I need to ask you a question. I don't mean to be butting in but the doc has increased my neurotin to 2400 mg over a 15 day period. I was taking 1800 mg. I am getting forgetful and can't seem to get anything done. I have never been a person to just sit around and do nothing. I have sooooooooo much I could be doing but I don't have the desire nor the organization that I used to. Did you have these side effects? My psychologist told me to get a palm pilot. Luckily, one of the ladies at the main office had one to give me to try out but I am angry b/c I shouldn't have to turn to that now. How does the med make you feel? THanks for your help. I hope to get to know you better. I think I have reverted back to my turtle shell and back into denial, which is ridiculous since I have had RSD two years. I am trying to get control of myself but I seem to be losing it. MOMMA JOANN is trying to help but I know that deep within I am the only one to make things better. Please write back if you have a chance. Love ya, Debbie > > From: AlwayzLoRi@... > Date: 2004/10/09 Sat PM 08:00:49 EDT > To: RSD-CRPSofAmerica > Subject: Re: Joann-Neurontin > > > > >
Guest guest
The only problem I am having now that I am off the Neurontin is that it is a lot harder for me to get to sleep the last few days. I am getting forgetful and can't seem to get anything done Hi Debbie, I know the e-mail was to Lori but I thought I would put in my 2 cents worth. When I was on even 1800mg of Neurontin a day my memory was terrible, I even forgot that Dwight's cousin was here and talked to me the whole time they were at our house, and when one of my daughters asked if I had a nice visit I even argued with her that Willa wasn't there, talk about freaking me out, I know the disease does affect short term memory some, but since I have been weaned off I don't forget much at all. I didn't have trouble getting things done, but I couldn't read or even work on my cross stitch,I found concentrating very hard. Is that what you mean? hope this helps, Lin
