Guest guest
J P, Chills are the body's response to too low a core temperature. Whether the final " warmed up " temperature is a fever or not depends on how low the body temperature started. Generally when I have had to warm up by 2 F or more I get shivering chills, less and I may just feel cold and need to bundle up. My chills, which were occurring weekly before I went to the doctor about them, were caused by bacterial cholangitis attacks and were cleared up by taking antibiotics. Your fiance should go to the doctor and present her symptoms, including frequency of the chills. Untreated, they can get worse over time and in estreme cases could lead to sepsis, a overwheming infection of the bloodstream by toxin-producing bacteria, which can be life-threatening.
