My symptoms are severe bloating, pain, and sometimes nausea. I am taking a drug to help with it(domperidone), but have had to cut down on it because it is aggravating my bladder pain. It does help with the motility of the gut though. It is not FDA approved, but my GI has me on it as it is the only thing that helps me. If I eat vegis especially hard to digest ones, my stomach will totally flare up and I will get severe bloating, pain, and feel awful. I am not even sure an infectious disease specialist could even help me ). I have been to so many doctors that it is crazy. I have all these things wrong with me and no answers as to why. When you say your bowel and urinary shut down, what do you mean, were you not able to urinate at all ? Do they know what caused this to happen? What are your symptoms with your stomach? It is VERY hard to find a gastroenterologist that knows about motility issues. I went to 6 before finding one to correctly diagnose me.Before that I cant tell you how many times I was told I had IBS. That always struck me as funny since alot of my problems were in my upper stomach and upper bowel and right after I ate. There are times when I can eat a very small amount and feel like a ate a huge meal that is how bloated I get. I finally called around looking for a Gastro doc who specialized in motility disorders or gastroparesis. Then he did the right tests and was able to at least give my problem a name. My bladder and urethral pain started back in May. I started getting what felt like a UTI, but my urine culture was normal. Finally went to a urogynecologist who looked inside the bladder and said it was extremely inflammed and said I likely have Interstitial cystitis. But now I am just wondering if this beta-strep infection I have has something to do with all the pain I have in the urethra and bladder. My symptoms are frequent urination, and some times I even feel like I still have to pee even after I went and also have the pelvic pain/bladder pain, and urethral pain and burning. It is awful. What were your symptoms with your urinary tract? Did you also have pain? What did they do to fix it? What tests did they do? Anyhow, if you are having stomach or digestive issues still, I would definitely reccomend seeing a gastroenterologist that specializes in motility disorders of the stomach and bowel. Or you could ask for someone who specializes in gastroparesis(a condition where the stomach does not empty correctly). Thanks for responding. I may just end up going to a infectious disease doctor. Maybe he/she will be able to help me out. Hope you are feeling well tonight. Jen BABB wrote: Jen,I think you should definitely have your gyne refer youto an ID doctor. The referral will help you to get infor an appointment. He will give you a really goodexam I expect and you surely do have some problems.Any help and ideas will be good. He may in the endsend you to an allergist but I wouldn't start theirfirst. You said that you cannot digest fruits and vegetables.May I ask what happens when you eat it. Do you havediarrhea or constipation or intestinal shutdown or allof the above or what. I am curious because I have hadsome motility problems, too but didn't know what theword was. LOL I wish I had. It would have saved mesome trouble. So very many words-----but until youfind the right one, answers in medical conditions arenot found. I also had urinary motility (if that is theword for urinary shutdown at the same time as thebowel motility) and I was more concerned about theurinary problem than the intestinal one and nobodyknew what I was talking about. Still don't but I betnow that I know that darned word--- MOTILITY maybe Ican figure things out. ;o)What do you eat that agrees with you stomach?Arline.> I was talking to my one gyne today about the> urethra/bladder > pain I have.
