Hi Debra..... Could this possibly be a bit of a flare or a new round of

die-off? I know others have seen this at about 7 months.... and you're almost

at that point. Are you using SCD yogurt? (nut or goat?) Or giving him

acidophilus supplements? Did you introduce any new foods recently? Sometimes I

wonder about the negative changes that some parents report right after school

starts...... fluorescent lighting at school? ....did they just put in new

carpet?..... did they just spray the school grounds with pesticides just before

the kids started coming? .... mold in the building? So many things coming at

them environmentally!

Re: One year SCD

Hi, Kate.

My son has been SCD since 4/24/04. For the last few weeks, his verbal

stimming has increased and his tactile stimming (running his fingers along

surfaces), which had been absent for more than a year, returned. Otherwise, he

seems ok. His progress has been slow, but steady * more noticeable to his DAN

doctor, who sees him monthly, than to us (unless we deliberately recall what he

had been doing a while ago).

Do you or anyone else have any ideas as to what is going on? The only new

thing is that he has started kindergarten. But we are (reasonably) certain that

he has not been given any illegal foods, as he has only three classmates * and

there are two teacher's aides. Plus, his teacher knew about the SCD before we

met her.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Apparently, two of my son's classmates have tactile stims (running their

fingers along surfaces), so it could be that he is imitating them.

The really sad thing is that the mother of one of the other little boys

is in denial. She claims that her son's only issue is impaired

language, that he is not on the spectrum.

I will also think about what other environmental changes my son is

experiencing at school.

PLUS, come to think of it, we have been upping Jake's intake of nut

yogurt!! (He has been casein free for more than 2 years, so we are

anxious about goat yogurt.)

THANKS!!
