Guest guest
Donna, Have you tried eating Underwood brand ham, chicken, roast beef? It's more of a spread, pureed like, it'd in the tuna/canned meat isle at walmart. angels9962 wrote: - Hi, - I really need some help with my proteins. Guest guest
Donna, You bring up an interesting point that I am experiencing. Obviously, I can only eat small portions - like you- and then once I see the leftovers in the fridge I just about HURL. I can't bear to eat the same thing over and over again. I am throwing away SO MUCH FOOD. I guess in time this will pass. Keep putting your thoughts out there...I am curious to hear what others will say too. Guest guest
Donna, I went for my pre-op testing on Monday. My nutritionist at the Center told me I didn't have to Puree. Have you tried just chew chew chew. Don't puree or eat baby food. but little bites, and chew till it's " mush-a-fied " . That's what we call it in our group. I am not sure if that helps or not. Good Luck! Molly > > Hi, > I really need some help with my proteins. I thought the liquid part > was hard, but now that I'm in the pureed stage, I can hardly think of > food without getting queezy. Guest guest
Debi, can any of it be frozen for use later? Then maybe u can rotate it every three weeks or something? I hate being wasteful too. --- Debi Ernser wrote: > Donna, > You bring up an interesting point that I am > experiencing. Guest guest
Debi, I had this problem, I could never cook small meals.........I have gone to Healthy Choice meals. I eat the meat portion and some of the veggies, I don't ever touch the dessert crap......I find this so much easier and I don't throw away so much money in left over food....... Guest guest
Have you tried eating Underwood brand ham, chicken, roast beef? Hi , No, I never thought of that. But my problem is the texture of it. I would have no problem at all eating that on bread, but I can't eat pureed. I hate to say it, but I'm so nervous about not getting my protein in that I started eating tiny chunks of food instead of pureeing them. I chew them until they are pureed in my mouth, but I just can't put them in my mouth pureed. I need to get the protein in so this is the only thing I can think of doing. I had a chicken cutlet with string beans last night and I felt so good about finally eating again. I chewed it until it was mush. But I'm telling you, it's a big difference to me putting mush in my mouth and putting a chunk in my mouth and making it mush. One day, I only had 1/4 cup cottage cheese because I couldn't even think of eating anything pureed. I'm also so sick of my protein drinks so I can't even substitute those for a while. Guest guest
Donna, Now you sound a little bit like me. I couldn't stand the idea of eating baby food or something pureed. At least not for days let alone weeks. By the third or fourth day home the shakes that I thought were so wonderful the first two days tasted and felt pretty awful. I've never been one to be picky about what I eat (hence the massive weight) but I was certainly getting sick of shakes and still don't have any desire to try the things today. I made all sorts of wild things with cottage cheese and chunk chicken/tuna. I would add packets of taco flavoring, bbq sauce, stuff like that. Then just chew until it was mush. I didn't mind fat free vanilla and some other flavors of yogurt though too. I do think, though, at my one year appointment that I might ask to meet with the exercise physiologist and see if he recommends additional protein in the form of a daily shake or something since I'm hitting the gym each day and might want to start increasing my weight lifting. I don't like the idea of adding liquid calories though. But if the shake is geared towards weight lifting and nutritional that would offset the calories in my mind. Guest guest
I tried the underwood meat, it was very salty, felt like a cow licking a " cow lick " ....hehehe --- angels9962 wrote: > Have you tried eating Underwood brand ham, chicken, > roast beef? > > > Hi , > No, I never thought of that. Guest guest
I didn't mind fat free vanilla and some other flavors of yogurt though too. Hi Mike, I just started eating the yogurt last night. I decided to look at the papers again that they gave me when I advanced, and I saw it on the list. That will help me a lot until I get sick of that also. I hope that I will eventually be able to like the foods I'm now getting sick of again. One of my favorites is tuna on toast. I get sick thinking of tuna now. But maybe when I can have it on toast, I might like it again. Donna/NY
