Guest guest
Have you thought about pursuing charges against your coworkers as it's a violation of privacy and they could lose their licensure because of the HIPPA violation? If this is making you ill, it's because it's created what they call a " hostile work environment " . You have rights on this issue and should talk to your HR rep ASAP! If they ignore you then contact a labor attorney. It's different when you " aren't " in the public eye, and you have a right to privacy from your coworkers. I used to work for an HMO and if we got caught looking at any info on a coworker, we could have lost our jobs. Now that the HIPPA privacy laws have gone into effect, employers that have access to that personal information have an obligation to keep it confidential. If they don't then they can get into BIG trouble. You definitely have a case and until you take control of the situation and do something about it, not only is it going to continue to stress you and cause problems for you, they are probably doing this to others as well. If it was me, I'd be filing all kinds of claims and grievances with HR. Good luck and keep us posted
