Guest guest
Hello, I lost the email that asked the questions about photoderm....anyway here is my experience...I have done 7 full face TX's...85% reduction in overall redness/pinkness. I had extreme redness and flushing...I looked like Dr. Nase but add my forehead in too! I tried so many cremes, scripts and every other concoction known to man and nothing would get rid of the redness. I felt hopeless and couldn't imagine living the rest of my life with my face blood red and burning pain constantly. Photoderm has been the only TX that I can honestly say has improved my condition...I still flush if I get really overheated or super stressed so I am careful to avoid these two triggers and all is fine. I would encourage anyone that has rosacea this bad to get photoderm done by a good doctor. This is the hard part...my doc was not so experienced like Dr. Bitter but open to all my suggestions and since I couldn't afford (money or time) to fly or drive great distances to be treated I took my chances and I have no regrets. Also, yes all doc's have you sign that scar disclaimer prior to TX...I was also upset by this at the time...but rosacea and it's progressing deforming nature propelled me into taking a chance...fear of PD or living with the fear of progressing rosacea...each of us must make our decisions based on what is good for us...PD was a God send right from the Throne of Glory! Guest guest
> Has anyone had photoderm in Dallas and can recomend a > dermatologist ? I have had several Versapulse treatments with > moderate improvement. Any info appreciated. I can recommend a good doctor, trained by Dr. Bitter, in Wichita Falls which is about 2.5 hours drive from Dallas. He is in the process of treating me, I have had 3 tx so far, and I consider him well worth the drive: Bert Avery M.D. Phone: Address: 4506 Kemp Blvd, Wichita Falls TX Jim Clary, Dallas TX photoderm

Guest guest
Dear Gloria, I can sympathize with you - and I know exactly how you feel! When I had my consult with Dr. Jay, he told me to get checked for a systemic disease first (after I told him I had digestive problems and Reynaud's). I was startled because he seemed to think this was not common with rosacea (I told him there are others in this group with the same symptoms). Also he told me several times " I have done people who's faces were purple and your's is not that bad. " He thought the rosacea was only a part of a bigger picture. I was devastated Gloria - I thought for sure I was going to get relief! Mine might only look like a sunburn, but it sure makes me feel sick! And the derm I saw before Dr. Jay, who did photoderm, said she mostly did leg veins. I don't get red on my neck or chest, but I know there have been posts from others who do. I was really down for days after my appt. with Dr. Jay, but I am much better now. You will be too. Now I am having lots of tests and then, if nothing else is found, I will really pursue the photoderm or laser. I think a number of us are so limited in terms of our lives right now, we need to do something. I have a consult with a laser surgeon tomorrow. I think what many of us are finding so frustrating is we are unable to find a doctor who understands what we are going through and it gives one a hopeless feeling almost. We are used to having conditions that doctors are able to fix - and now we seem to have a condition that really stumps them. And no matter what a doctor tells you, we still don't know the cause or the cure for this condition. So hang in there, Gloria. By the way, when I told my psychiatrist about my puzzlement over laser vs. photoderm, he said " did you hear, they have just come up with a blue laser? " He said a blue laser would be able to target things much more specifically. It might take some time, but somehow we will get some help. All best to you, Patty

Guest guest
Oh n, if you can do this, do it! It's really helped to give me back my life! I've had 6 full-face treatments and 1 touch-up (cheeks and nose--those cheeks are so stubborn), and I'd say my flushing has been cut down by about 90%. That's not to say I never flush, but when I do, it's incredibly mild and fades very quickly. And it's more like " pinking up " than a full-on red-face flush. The tone of my skin is much more even now as well--peachy with a little marble of light pink on my cheeks. Not perfect, but a vast improvement. I'm about a month out from my last touch-up, and I continue to improve. I'm going to wait another 6 weeks and decide whether or not to go ahead with one more. Knowing myself the way I do, I'm betting I'll go for one more. Now, it hasn't done much for the " orange-peel " look of my cheeks (which, on a more objective day, I know is pretty mild, comparatively speaking). And photoderm probably won't do much for the inflammatory papules (those bumps), though the less you flush, the less they should appear. For me, PD in combo with Dr. Sy's Zinc-O have totally given me back my freedom. The zinc-oxide helps to eradicate thos pesky little bumps for many of us. If you can use her cream (and I probably couldn't have before I had a few PD treatments done), you should try it. She's more than happy to send out samples. It's a sunscreen, too, and cover-up. It's nice to be able to do some on-stop shopping for my skin for a change! Oh, the most important part: Yes, it is quite pricey. I paid per treatment, $450 per (but I got a free touch-up). That's $2700 total. I guess it'll cost me a little over $3000 by the time I'm done. It's so worth it, though. Think of it as an investment in your health and sanity! Good luck--let us know what you decide to do... --- marion lane wrote: > HAVE ANY OF YOU HAD PHOTODERM IF SO PLEASE > WRITE ME WHETHER > YOU HAD GOOD RESULTS ALSO PLEASE TELL ME > WHAT YOU THINK YOUR > TOTAL COST WAS > THANKYOU ,MARION > > > > -------------------------------------------------------- > Please read the list highlights thoroughly before > posting to the whole group. see > http://rosacea.ii.net/toc.html > > When replying, please delete all text at the end of > your email that isn't necessary for your message. > > To leave the list send an email to > rosacea-support-unsubscribeegroups > __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi n, I've also been having photoderm treatments and they have helped my intense flushing redness and swelling very much. Best thing I could have done! My treatments will probably total around $1200cdn. I hope you get the chance to do it if you can! Guest guest
Judy, Don't worry too much about the blister post Photoderm. While it may not happen to all, it certainly has occured with my treatments several times. Just try to keep the area dry and clean and if it's not healing up as you think it should, go in and have your doctor check it. I had a huge one on my chin with treatment #6, and it took a while to heal but did so nicely (even with Amazing Base on!) Good Luck with your treatments, Beth
Guest guest
I'm a new member to this group. All the information I've been learning is amazing. My derm just writes a prescription that doesn't help me at all. I'm really interested in having photoderm done. My face is just red all the time. No other problems. How do I go about finding a dr that knows what he is doing? Are there any Drs that have been trained by Dr Bitter in the Columbus Ohio area? Any help would be greatley appreciated. Thanks Pam
Guest guest
Maybe you could give Dr. Bitter's office a call and ask for some Bitter trained derms in your area and then check each one to see who's the most reasonable. His # is: . Dr. Bitter (sr.) is the Doctor that first came up with the Photofacial and trains derms all over. I know what you mean about the cost. I think I'm gonna put it off 'cause I can't afford it right now. I wish it was a little more reasonable. Dr. Bitter charges $500 bucks a pop with $200 off a package of 5 treatments. His son, Dr. Bitter Jr. is EVEN MORE. $550 a pop and no discount for 5 treatments. I've been hearing from the girls at the office that you need to do 5 to get good results and then have one a year to maintain results. They sure get the big bucks eh? And one guy posted that it didn't improve his rosacea. Poor guy. That sucked big time for him. Money, time, hope all down the drain. Most people at this sight, however, seem to be happy with their results. Good luck finding somebody affordable. I hope it all works out beautifully for you. Especially, I hope you're very happy with your results. julie
