Guest guest
, We do not vaccinate Drake or use antibiotics (or other drugs). Basically, in IL anyway, I know there is a form (got one around here somewhere) that is obtained from a lawyer. It basically allows you to state that due to your personal beliefs (some have religious conflicts too, but this is different) that your child(ren) will not be vaccinated. Basically, a child cannot be denied an education based on religious or personal beliefs of the family. We have a really good book: Vaccines: Are They Really Safe and Effective? A Parent's Guide to Childhood Shots by Neil Z. . In it there's a section that discusses this. It's actually easier to get an unimmunized child into school than a licensed daycare facility. Thank goodness I get to stay home! Also, don't think that just because a child has previously been vaccinated that they have to continue to have them. If a parent finds information that changes their mind on the subject, it's their right to stop. I know some of my friends have asked me that question. They wonder about the effects of beginning vaccinations and then discontinuing. I also have enough opportunities to debate our decision and am not looking to do so here. I just thought this info might be of some help. Have a good day!! Fawn

Guest guest
I am not trying to debate any of you who do not vaccinate or use antibiotics...But, regarding the antibiotics what do you do when your children have an infection? I mean, I certainly am not for antibiotics unless they are truly indicated. Lets be real, they have been overused and that is why we have resistant strains of things like staph. Just the other day I had a baby in the ER who's lumbar puncture culture came back with gram positive staph which need antibiotic therapy. So, what would you all who are against antibiotics do? Not treat your children? Just curious?? Chantel
Guest guest
, I personally homeschool so it isn't an issue, but if I had to send them to school I would use the philosophical exemption that is available in California. Wendi http://www.lactivist.com breastfeeding info & resources Q re: vaccinations From: NFLI4U@... Hi, quick question: I've been pondering this question for sometime, and it's high time I got it answered. I've been doubting myself in my decision to get my kids vaccinated. Neither of them had any adverse reactions to any of them, but how do you get away with not getting them vaccinated and try to send them to school? I'd love to be able to be in control of my kids health (I am somewhat in terms of not using antibiotics), but how do you stand down the education system and their requirements??? Just a thought. I get religious exemptions here in Florida. It can be your personal religious beliefs,it does not have to be the rules of a certain religion. No big deal at all!! Guest guest
, I'm not sure if Amazon will have it or not. If they don't let me know and I can tell you a number to call to try and get it. It's a really well written, easy to read book and it's short and to the point. I hope it helps with whatever information you need. If you need suggestions on any others I've got some more good ones. Good luck and let me know if you have trouble finding it. Guest guest
Chantal, About our use of antibiotics....in general we do not use them but of course if there were some unfortunate and truly serious illness where the antibiotics were definitely needed I think we would consider it. Of course we would also check out other options. Luckily for us it has not happened but I'm aware that it could. Thanks. Fawn

You just sign a form saying that you don't believe in vaccinations. Well, that's how it works here in Washington State. Guest guest
Chantel, I personally am fairly against antibiotics but not totally. I think they are entirely misused and overabused and wouldn't give them to my child for any minor infection, including strep throat. If my child had a lumbar puncture that was infected with a bacterial organism, I would have them do a culture and sensitivity and put my child on the most effective antibiotic for the strain. I believe that western and eastern medicine have things to learn from each other and that using them together can be a major tool to health. I believe that alternative treatments can be extremely effective for keeping a child from getting to a point that they would need antibiotics or hospitalization. I have worked in hospitals and am well versed in what to look for in regards to danger signs for my children. I also have done extensive study in herbs and homeopathy and have a lot of natural treatments available at my house so can treat illnesses in their early stages. I personally believe that the more educated and knowledgeable we as mothers become, the easier it will be to maintain wellness in our children. Each of my children has been on antibiotics once in their lives. Looking back I wouldn't give either of them the antibiotics for the illnesses they had. I just didn't have the information then that I do now. HTH Wendi http://www.lactivist.com breastfeeding info & resources Re: Q re: vaccinations From: RNSPU96@...
