Guest guest
, There can be weeks of die-off....... and it can also come in cycles. He may get better for a time, then have more rounds of die-off, off and on. It really does depend on the individual, though. Depends on the state the gut was in to start with. The color changes are good signs, according to what Elaine has said about this in the past...... it means the balance of power is changing down there! That's an awful lot of muffins..... it would certainly be a good idea to get some variety, though I understand how hard it can be to introduce new things. Are you baking them with nut flour? Or nut butters? Are you adding the veggies and meat to the muffins? Or is it separate? Are you giving some acidophilus supplements? This is essential ..... as the bad guys die off, you must have good guys to replace them! Epsom salts baths can help with the die-off symptoms. I hope you'll not be tempted to go back to the potatoes and rice any time soon. Just remember that the toxins the bad bacteria were producing all along are being given off in much bigger quantities as those organisms bite the dust. Some parents have reported that activated charcoal supplements (available at health food stores) can also help with the detoxing, if you could get him to take them (must also have no illegals.... so read labels). Hang in there! Patti, mom to Katera Day 14 Need Encouragement About a month ago, I put Liam on SCD. He had die-off that included vomitting for a several days. We even had a " trophy " . Unfortunately, a couple of days after that I took my DAN! practitioner's advice and took him off, adding only potatoes and rice. No more " trophy's " . We are back on the diet, day 14. On our second day we had a " trophy " . We have not had one since. We have seen many colours and it has been four. His behaviour has been really bad and he has quite a few rashes all over him. He is stimming like I haven't seen in a LONG time. I don't know if I should try going back to the intro-diet or just continue the way I am going. He will only eat muffins with some kind of meat, bananas and squash. We are at about dozen or two muffins a day. Does anyone have any advice or encouragement? I feel like I'm going to lose my mind. Is it going to get better soon? (I know it's a roller coaster ride, but when does it do up?) , Mom to Liam age 34 months, ASD, SCD 14 days. Guest guest
Hang in there, friend. There are so many ups and downs, but it is really worth it to stick to the diet. I believe doing the intro would probably be good. He might be struggling with yeast, as my son gets rashy with yeast overgrowth. But, intro would probably be good, then slowly starting on yogurt. Just my guess... It does seem to get worse before it gets better. Love, Tina > > About a month ago, I put Liam on SCD. He had die-off that included > vomitting for a several days. Guest guest
" We are at about dozen or two muffins a day. " What are these muffins made out of exactly and what size muffins are you referring to? Regular ones or mini-sized ones? One to two dozen regular sized muffins per day made from nut butter/ nut flour is way too many. Jody mom to -5 and -8 SCD 21 months
Guest guest
>Hi Patti, The muffins are only meat, banana, squash and egg. I have not been adding any flours. The muffings would consist of two cups of meat, two bananas and a cup of squash (I have often changed the bananas to applesauce and zucchini), a teaspoon of baking soda and possibly two eggs. I have him on the UDO probiotics. Now that I think of it, is microcrystalline cellulose legal? I am giving him an epsom salts bath every night (one to two cups of salts). The other problem, of course, is getting his supplements into him. It's hard to hide them in the muffins. Thank you for your input. I'm feeling better already this morning. , > There can be weeks of die-off....... and it can also come in cycles. He may get better for a time, then have more rounds of die- off, off and on. Guest guest
Does your son like popcicles? I have found that Jaden will eat ALMOST anything frozen like a popcicle. I have done carrots, acorn squash, butternut squash, applesauce, and pearsauce so far. I just cook, puree, and add a bit of honey to the veggies. At least it adds some variety. We are only at day 11, so I'm not too experienced with anything else. Good luck! We're right there with you! Guest guest
Hi , > I have him on the UDO probiotics. Now that I think of it, is > microcrystalline cellulose legal? I am giving him an epsom salts > bath every night (one to two cups of salts). When I went to the UDO webpage http://www.florahealth.com/flora/home/international/products/tg8.asp the probiotics listed all contained some illegal bacterial strains. Elaine only suggests using Lactobacillus acidophilus in a probiotic supplement. Bifidum bacteria tend to overgrowth when supplemented. Some legal probiotics can be found at http://pecanbread.com/probiotics.html#brands The microcrystalline cellulose is legal.
