Guest guest
He acts silly, runs, has mood swings, rages, and says the same annoying stuff all the time, but, really fools people.Me. With all his increasingly unpredictable behavior, he has done stuff that surprises me. First of all, the second time we went to see the psych, he jumped up when we came to the subway stop where we have to change trains, so he must have remembered the stop. I think he always had a good sense of direction, but, I guess this shows he can remember new places too( in fact, I almost forgot the stop). Yesterday, I told him that if he wanted to go outside, he had to put on his long pants, socks/shoes and coat. usually, he has to get yelled at (mild yelling) to do it, and I have to go to the room and help him find stuff. Ten minutes after telling him for the second time he needed to do what I asked before we went out, he came upstairs fully dressed, pants, shoes, coat (why on earth does he appear to have trouble getting the coat on in my presence). The home teacher said that he is always good with her about being independent, I guess the trick is, to wait until he does it himself. He also tried to run out of the house, but, he has come a long way with not running out of the house and listening. The teacher at school states that he can follow 2 step directives given to the whole class, which for a distractable/hyper kid is a big deal. He even helps a little girl with her coat, and bookbag because she has a hard time following directives. Then when we went to the dr, he asked if the school nurse was going to be there- she and the teacher came for the first evaluation. I was just amazed that he was looking for her to be there. The other thing is, yesterday, when we were waiting on line at the pharmacy, while I was waiting/spacing out, he walked over to the cashier that wasnt busy. If he hadnt done that, I still wouldve been waiting in the other busy line. It seems that he was being more observant to the environment than I was. Someone said that autism is kinda like a light switch, the brain goes on and off. I believe it. Thea
