This month I would like to drop 3 to 5 pounds.

I would also like to re-focus on what I put in this big old mouth of

mine. I need to make better choices. The last few months have been

VERY VERY stressful and I have fallen back into old bad eating

habits.

But I guess the good past is I have lost a total of 301 pounds ( if

you count my x-husband...LOL) free at last thank you Lord Free at

last!

I am doing terrible! I had set a 25 lb weight loss goal for September, but I

see now I was overly ambitious. I've just not had as much time as I would have

liked to exercise as hard as I wanted. I've lost 2 pounds all month. At this

point, I would just be happy to make it to 219 (5 more pounds).

How do you find time to exercise when you work full time, raising 2 children

with extracurricular activities, and attending college? This was the challenge

the psychiatrist said I would still face post op and that I needed to address

it. He basically told me I would have to give something up in order make my

health a priority. I can't give up on work; I need the money. I can't give up

the kids, obviously; I love them way too much! That leaves me with school and I

can't give that up when it is so close. I keep telling myself that things will

get better after I graduate next May. Do things ever get better? I think I just

need to sit down and plan a schedule that I can commit to sticking to. I feel

exhausted most days already, not sure how I will have the energy for regular

exercise. Any advice?

I haven't been paying attention to your personal details if you've

posted them but are you married? I had/have similar scheduling fun.

From 2000-2005 I was working full time, raising two kids half time

(had them every afternoon, every other weekend, every Friday, half

summers and half/most breaks), going to school (I finished a BAS and

two MS degrees). The kicker is I didn't do much for working out.

Now I'm in the same boat with the kids except that every year brings

new fun with schedules for them. They're now 11 and 13 soon to age a

year each in November. They've changed school districts to one about

5 miles away. Fortunately it's sort of on my way home from work so

picking them up is not so bad and yet my daughter gets out one hour

before my son so that pretty much messes up the afternoon for us. Of

course my kids play sports (son=football, baseball, basketball and

daughter=cheer, soccer, softball). Instead of ditching them at 6pm I

find myself shuttling them back out to some where hopefully at least

close to their school for a game or practice, in rush hour traffic.

Joy.

I'm now working towards PMP certification. Testing scheduled for mid

December. Next year (probably first half) I'll be getting my CISSP.

After that I have another yearly review where I'll be requesting to

get my MCSA, MCSE, or MCITP. I'm also hassling my superiors to pay

for my jurist doctorate at Cooley which now has a campus in Grand

Rapids. For some reason they don't think that applies to my position.

I'm also trying to work on changing that.

Today I worked out for about 35-40 minutes. That's really not enough.

I want to get it to an even hour and do that for at least a week

(every day) and continue on doing that from then on. I'm sort of

having a tough time dragging myself out of bed. I've not been getting

in to the gym/work until about 5:40am and that's just not going do it

if I want to be down at my desk at 6:30am to get out at 2:30pm to

pick up the kids. I've got to start getting up at something more

around 4am instead of sleeping in until 4:30am. I'll get there though.

I also need to start setting aside 30-60 minutes a night to study for

the PMP. I can really cram on the weekends (early in the morning when

the kids are asleep) probably but that's not really how I study/learn

my best, through cramming. What frustrates me the most is I get

poorly designed schedules from my kid's coaches and teachers but

maybe that's to be expected at the beginning of the year.

Anyway, I wanted to let you know you're not exactly alone although it

sounds like your schedule might be tougher and not as flexible as

mine is with work. I work for a UK company so coming in as early as I

want is an option and my kids are with the ex in the morning (her

choice not mine) so I don't have to deal with that fun.

I guess there's no easy answer(s). I try to make/keep todo lists;

Daily, weekly, monthly ones as well as keeping detailed calendars. I

haven't been able to find a decent calendar " system " . I'd like to use

my work one, Outlook, but then I'm not very well connected to it on

the weekend. I'd like to have it send alerts as text messages to my

phone but I'm not sure it can do that. I'd like to synch it up at

home but doubt I can do that. I'm in IT though and the Outlook/email

admin sits across the hall (about 3 feet wide) from me so I should be

able to do something about this.

I'll try to keep you in mind if I think of any tricks or notice

anything that's working for me. How about you tell us more about your

schedule and support structure (friends, family, spouse, etc.) if

you're comfortable doing that? Maybe someone has a similar situation

or knows how to stack things up better.

First thing I'd stop setting weight goals. If you're working out they

might be hard to achieve since you're building muscle mass which

replaces your weight of fat. Set goals of work out time, study time,

kid time, etc.

Woo the email admin is in early. I'm off to chat him up before I

forget all this.

Hi

I read about how you are doing on your goal. Don't

give up, you can do it! I am off too, but I keep

" re-programming " myself.

I have been following this guy’s progress since I

discovered his affirmation site. He seems like a

really interesting person. We have exchanged a few

emails and he told me that he is getting over 2500

hits a day on this website, and I can believe it, it

is simple gorgeous. He seems like kind of an old

hippie artist/musician guy, really a sweetheart. He

put this site up for free. I watch/listen to the

affirmations on it every day. The music is very

peaceful. There are a couple of long guided

meditations on there that do not have movies with them

that are truly transformative.

Here is a sample of one of the video affirmations:

http://www.healingwheel.com/affirmations/email/perfecthealthmovie.html

I hope this is something that has meaning for you.

Best of luck,

Gage
