Guest guest
Dawn, I will say a prayer that it gets accepted. I don't know much about the canada one but ours you have to wait 6 months. Thank God I live in CA because we pay automatically from our checks a short term disability which will pay up to a year of medical leave so in that year, I applied for my SSD. You still have to wait 6 months to get payments from SSD but I was covered through work. The key was that I had to keep my employment status but my boss knew I would be on a medical leave for a year, I just told them at a year, I would decide to come back or not. I knew I wasn't. I went on leave in June, applied for SSD in January, and was approved only 4 weeks later. I think what cinched it for me was the note from my doctor. He wrote a really good note. I also included a letter in mine. I stated everything I 'could not' do anymore and how this disease has affected every aspect of my life. I was surprised it only took 4 weeks. They say too, if you are young, be ready to appeal because it is harder for younger people to get it. I am only 33 and got it right away. My dad was 57 when he had to retire for medical reasons and he had to apply 3 times. My mom was 60 and had a stroke and they turned her down every time. She actually had to go to court in a wheel chair, partially parilyzed on one side and state her case. Can you believe that??? She is fine now, except for an occassional seizure. Actually, I think she has been seizure free for 2 years too. Anyway, its weird how it works so I wish you the best. Zanna
Guest guest
I believe in the main bool it says that if the cheese is 6 gramms of saturated fat or less it is ok > > I am concerned about some of the things I read in the post. > For example in the " Good Fats, Good Carbs " book in the cheese section > it lists all regular cheese as a food to avoid. Low fat cheese is > listed as limited. Fat free is the only cheese listed as good. Have > I missed something? Are we allowed to eat regular cheese? > > Thanks, > > Beth
Guest guest
Hi all sb dieters, I'm new to the group but it has been so helpful already. I am on my 10th day of phase 1 and I'm doing good, I can't believe the change already, most of the time I have to make myself eat. I just don't get that hungry anymore, but I'm sure that will change. Anyway, can we have low fat or fat free sour cream? Thanks so much Diane

When I started the diet the book was all I had > to go by. Where are you getting your information? I don't have my book (it's on loan) but the information is in the meal plans. The way they break each meal out, they give recommendations for what each meal should contain. The current set on the SBD site recommends 1/2 cup veggies at breakfast and 2 cups of veggies at each of lunch and dinner, as well as adding some veggies in each of the snacks. That's 4 1/2 cups explicitly recommended and if you figure a half cup to a full cup between the two snacks, then you're talking basically 5 cups. An interesting tidbit I caught -- there USED to be references to " servings " . A serving of vegetables is 1/2 cup. By those figures, we should be getting 4 servings at lunch and dinner (really no problem -- a half cup is tiny any way). I just found that an interesting disparity. Guest guest
if you take a look at the daily menu's in the book and read through the day and see how much it does come to around 4 cups a day at the minimum.... Guest guest
> I caught the same thing , but to me a half cup is a lot > if the veggie is cooked. If it's boiled, sure, but if it's steamed it's not so bad. I eat so many vegetables at any given time that I just don't notice any more.
