Guest guest
Anyone know a recipe that is SCD legal for playdough? My son just started kindergarten and immediately started playing with the playdough, which contains gluten. Recipes for GF playdough I have seen use rice flour. Thanks. Guest guest
I copied these notes from another group awhile back. R, 's mom www.discountschoolsupply.com Exact URL: http://www.discountschoolsupply.com/product/product.asp? sku=7566 Colorations® Wheat & Gluten-Free Dough Finally a modeling dough for children who are wheat and gluten sensitive! Sold exclusively at Discount School Supply, this dough is safe, soft and easy to use and comes in 8 vibrant colors: black, blue, brown, green, orange, red, white and yellow. Air-dries for unique craft projects. Made in Great Britain. 5.5lbs total. I have only used white rice flour, and it's a tiny bit different than reg. play-doh...but it works great. I imagine alot of GF flours would be just fine. 1 c. flour 1 c. water 1 Tbsp. oil 1/2 c. salt 1 tsp. cream of tartar food coloring Mix all ingredients, cook over medium heat until mixture pulls away from sides of pan. Knead until cool. Keeps 3 months unrefridgerated, but must be stored in an airtight container. Helpful hint: I mix all ingredients EXCEPT food coloring, cook, transfer to ziploc, add color and then knead until cool. Keeps my pans and hands from getting dyed! We multiply this recipe by 4 for a classroom of 12-15. Of course, you can imagine I feel better that NONE of them are using the bad stuff. One more thing: Crayola Model Magic is GFCF, but a little expensive.
