I'm Chantel and I am a working mom to an almost 5 month old little girl. I also pump at work and get between 4-6 ounces at a time. I'm an RN, so I have the luxury of a lactation room, but you could bring a pic of your little one or maybe even an article of clothing to work to have near you while you pump. Other people on this list can suggest ways of increasing your milk supply (Fenugreek, Mother's Milk Tea, etc), but for the most part just try to relax and think of your baby while you are pumping. Think of what a wonderful thing you are doing for him! Congrats and good luck! Guest guest
Hello...My three year olds name is Trenton!!! Welcome to the list. I have 4 boys, all have been breastfed. The baby, 12 months, is still going strong. Are you drinking lots of fluids? Try massaging the breast. I used Mothers Milk Tea to help me when I had to pump. I would drink it 3 times per day and it really help to increase my supply and get the required amount I needed so I didn't have to supplement. also could you try pumping at home while your little one is nursing on one breast try pumping the other. I found that I could get a greater quantity when I pumped while nursing. My let down was stronger. The ingestion of oats are useful too Good luck! Guest guest
Chelly, Welcome to the list. I would imagine that you are stressed. Leaving your baby and wondering if you can supply enough can really be worrisome, add that to a stressful job and it can be very difficult. First let me ask what type of pump you have. If you are using a single pump, I would suggest getting a double electric. Do you take a picture of your baby with you to work to look at while you are pumping. Taking a piece of clothing that he has worn to smell can also help. Meditation and relaxation exercises can help to clear your mind. Are you nursing as much as possible when you are with him. Even offering one extra feeding in the evening can help get a lot more stimulation to your breasts throughout the week. The more stimulation from your baby the more milk. Lots of nursing at night and on the weekends will assure your supply for the week. Make sure you are eating well and drinking plenty of fluids. Carbonated soda can interfere with supply. Just keep in mind that you can make more milk on demand so more nursing will help with pumping during the week. You are doing a great favor to your baby by supplying him with breastmilk. Keep up the good work. Wendi http://www.lactivist.com breastfeeding info New here - hello all From: TrentonsMom@... Hi everyone, This is just a short note to say hello, I am new to the list and am a stressed out working mommy of a 3 month old little boy. I recently went back to work, and am pumping, but am having a problem getting as much out as I used to - I do believe it is the stress but have no idea what to do about it.
