Guest guest
Hmm, I have not been tested for Lyme, but was wondering about it since so many of you seem to have it. For those that do - what were/are your symptoms, how did you test for it, and how do you treat it? I took Flagyl for only 7 days for BV. Is Flagyl a drug that treats lime? I haven't had any Lyme like rashes or anything. My V pain started after bouts of BV and overtreatment with yeast. Could I still have lyme? I'm worried about that now. I don't use artificial sweeteners or anything either. --- mojo060582 wrote: > : Have you been tested for Lyme? Both V > pain and your tingling > are Lyme sypmtoms. Guest guest
My symptoms were extreme fatigue and flu like symptoms. If I did anything stressful (fun or work) I would end up in bed for a week. At times I would sleep for 20 hours a day. Then I got the V pain after having a bad two month yeast infection. After focusing on treating the V pain I suddenly realized that I had a " whole body " problem and went to a Fibromyalgia and Fatigue Center where they pulled 19 vials of blood and tested for everything. I tested positive for Lyme, Clamydia Pneumobnia, EBV, and a few other viruses and bacterial infections. I am now with a very reputable Lyme Dr. that I LOVE. My twin sister tested positive for Lyme a year later than me. We think we've had it since our teens and we are 48 next month. It can be in your body for years without any symptoms. Ours came out in our early 40's (perimenopause). It is estimated that only 30 percent of Lyme patients actually remember being bit by a tick or get the rash. I never thought Lyme was an issue because I didn't have joint pain. Lyme disease actually has hundreds of sypmtoms and everyone is different. Now my pain is in my vulva (not nearly as bad as two years ago), in my buttox and upper thighs, shoulders and my newest pain is in my left elbow. I get headaches, have light and sound sensitivity and am basically " sensitive " to everything. Even my teeth hurt! Guest guest
Hmm, it's possible I have it. I've been dwelling on it since you mentioned it. I don't have the kind of fatigue that you had. I do have problems sleeping, itchiness in random places on my body, this month I had midcycle bleeding which I've never had, and a weird burning in one buttock and down the back of one leg. I hope it's just me being hypersensitive and I pulled something during bellydancing, but now I'm not so sure. Also, I still have the tingling in my fingers and palms, actually this time it's more of an itch, not too intesnse. Should I go to a FM Specialist to have the test done or just request it from my GP? --- mojo060582 wrote: > My symptoms were extreme fatigue and flu like > symptoms. Guest guest
It may be a good idea to rule it out. I get the pain down the back of my thigh sometimes, too. Insomnia is another symptom of Lyme (although it's a symptom of many things). I don't have the tingling but a lot of " Lymies " were talking about that on one of my Lyme boards. Most doctors don't know how to treat Lyme, test for Lyme or know how to read the test, so you will need to find a " Lyme " Doctor if you can. A " Fibro " doctor should be familiar with Lyme, too, I would think since it's a related illness (they share many symptoms) It's important that you are tested through Igenex (dr. can order the test at www.igenex.com) Most insurance companies reimburse for the test but you have to pay for it upfront. > > > > > > Hmm, I have not been tested for Lyme, but was > > > wondering about it since so many of you seem to > > have > > > it. Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I have been wondering the same thing as ...I looked up the symptoms though and it talks about having a rash and a lot of other things I haven't felt. But I have the V Pain, tingling, and feel tired a lot. The main reason why I think maybe Lyme may have something to do with it is because I worked at a summer camp all summer last year. And towards the end of the summer was when I was starting to feel the V pain and it seemed to 'come out of nowhere.' The camp I worked at is not in a high area for Lyme Disease though...I saw a chart that mapped out where most cases are. So maybe I'm just being paranoid? More information from you ladies would be great. Thanks, Caitlin
Guest guest
Caitlin: You are not being paranoid. Lyme is in EVERY state - the maps are crap - not accurate not even close. I never had a bite or a rash. With your symptoms I would definately recommend a test (by Igenex, of course!) Check out ilads.com and lymenet.com for good Lyme info. Guest guest
How much does the Igenex test cost? I see they don't contract with any insurance networks. Be a better Heartthrob. Guest guest
The Western Blots (which is where most Dr's start) are just under $200.00. Most insurance companies will reimburse you. I only got half back because (and this is common) they thought the IGG and IGM were the same test (even though Igenex sends you a nice letter to send to the insurance co to explain this). I was doing so much " out of network " paperwork at the time I just let it go. My sister got all but $12 back from hers. > > How much does the Igenex test cost?
