Guest guest
So now I know what HRH means. It all sounded like a great experience. Simon, good luck with your eventual surgery. Guest guest
Simon, perhaps the sleeplessness in your household is what is caused Flo's forgetfulness about the car and not at all about the wine (tee hee!). I wish you and she could see the vision in my brain about HRH and the escapades around avoiding her! Take good care and let us know about your knee--I am sure all will be well and you will be your old chipper self soon. pam
Guest guest
OK, my turn. Evidence for the prosecution has been presented, now that of the defence. Yes, I did deliberately avoid HRH Princess Anne and have to admit to having a problem with hierarchy, never mind royalty. Even more so, I have a problem with people shaking my hand while they wear gloves (and not ones intended to protect against the cold either!). Anyway, I tried several strategies to get out of the embarassing situation of the introduction, all of which failed. Embarassed to say I even tried to convice Simon to pretend I was his communicator guide, in which case I would be just a mouthpiece and would not need to engage in my own rights. For some strange reason, he refused to go along with this plan! I don't understand..... Then I pretended to lose my name badge with the giveaway red dot but the efficient usher threatened not to let me into the reception, in which case I would be bored while Simon enjoyed himself with the free food and wine so that didn't work either. Soooo, just before my moment of total humiliation arrived, I was thrown a lifeline. A Sense publicity officer who looks around 21 and once borrowed for something or other and had the honesty only a naiive young professional could have came over to chat to me and suddenly I was REALLY interested in what he had to say. Alas, I was so engrossed in the conversation I forgot to join my group who had the honor of THE meeting. Now how is that my fault? Some say they saw me shuffling further away from the group but I protest! I was only listenning to the PR guy and as I have some hearing problems, I had to move closer to him. And anyway, he did once tell me that if any organisation wants to raise lots of money, they " only have to throw in a cute kid " . At least that meant he thought my kid was cute so I really did have to speak to him! Seriously though, if I have to meet a royal, I would rather it was Princess Anne, but if I don't have to, all the better. I do think it is a good thing that she supports a deafblind charity and if I thought my meeting her would genuinely lead to some positive, I would gladly sacrifice my politics and my principles, of which unfortunately I have many. At this time, I think not, so creativity became my best friend, but I was busted! On another note, Brown, as usual, was excellent, though he was restricted by time. I admire that he got so much across in such a short time. My understanding of proprioception is still fledgling but it increased remarkabley following his presentation. One day, I will understand it. Wish is could have heard his normal real presentation. Hopefully, the next conference may remedy that. And yes, his humour is a real plus, and he has a genuine interest in CHARGE. Final note, Simon had his surgery at last. Of course it was not without its saga, but at least his knee is corrected (just so he can go and wreck it again with more karate!). Now he has to have the other one done. He came home really tired and is now safely tucked up. Suspect the pain may set in tomorrow when he is not up to his eyeballs in pain killers. Hopefully it won't be too painful. He has the luck of some adaptations for disability at home (he can thank later) so he can at least make it up the stairs. Xmas on crutches, hmmm, think he will only be upset if he misses the football match on Boxing Day. And so the evidence for the defense comes to a conclusion......... Guest guest
Dear Flo, so the defense has spoken and it is duly noted!!! The whole event and the subsequent reportings of said event is hysterical. The two of you are so funny!! I am glad that you at least could enjoy the food and liquids that HRH made possible. I can't wait until your girls are old enough to know and understand the whole HRH thing (or is it a genetic understanding that comes with birth by English father?) and how they would react in such a situation. It would all seem like princesses and magic to me!!! Perhaps it will be to them and then you and Simon will have to rethink your plans!!! pam
