Guest guest
All - Hard to type but will do my best. Went to have bracial plexus catheter put back in and they were concerned because my armpit was still tender and a bit swollen. Before I start I will tell you they worked on me constantly for 3 hours non-stop...awful. 2:45 appt and left at 7 PM They the decided to put it in via my back (per a new approach developed in iowa but not done before where I go). Kept trying but it didn't work. So start over and go in from the front clavicle area. Doc still persevered but it didn't work either. Finally back to the armpit and trouble there too but finally success. Too much. 12 hrs later my arm and hand are still dead and one sore body. No pain in RSD area tho....so Ishould't complain? How to drive to work? Pick me up please. Barbara

Guest guest
OUCH! Barbara, what a horrible ordeal! You have the patience of a saint not to tell them to shove the catheter in darker places! I hope your starting to feel better today! Guest guest
How to drive to work? Pick me up please. Barbara Sounds to me Barbara that you need to take a day or 2 off, so that you can completely recover from that, I hope they kept you comfortable with medication during all this. I have a question though I have never heard of your procedure so what exactly is it for? Lin
Guest guest
Barbara-How are you going to work with one arm? Perhaps you should stay home and let that arm rest. Thats good that theres no rsd pain. What did your doc say about the numbness? Take care...BARBARA TORREY wrote: All - Hard to type but will do my best. Guest guest
Lin - It's to put in a catheter down to where the brachial plexus is...That way the meds can continuually bathe the nerve all the way down the length of arm and hand. The procedure was nasty this time...much worse than al the other times. Schlosser wrote: How to drive to work? Pick me up please. Nothing will mess up yhis trip for me, Barb, Just a word of advice, don't plan a walk on the beach.... on the serious side, please be careful, when I was a kid I went through a catagory 4 hurricane that decided to stall on Florida, we lived far enough inland to not have to worry about the storm surge, but we kept putting blankets by the front door because water was pouring in it. So I hope you have a great vacation but watch out for Ivan. Lin
Guest guest
Yikes. Ivan better move over. Even my 84 year old aunt called from CA all worried about my going. If this gets messed up you're gonna need a straitjacket for me. Schlosser wrote: Jo- If Ivan shows up in NewOrleans I'll kick his butt. Guest guest
Lin- I went to work. I turned off the pump before I went to bed last night and hand was alittle better this morning. Was having pain when I woke up so I turned it back on. Whole arm was dead again by noon. Groan. Turned it off and called clinic. They didn't get back to me until I had already arrived home from work (with a 45 min. drive and a dead arm). Someone is not looking down on me. They finally called and had infusion instruct me in how to turn down the infusion rate (way down)....Will see what happens now. Getting a mite frustrated here. Guest guest
Barb, Your arm sounds alot like mine. I can barely lift my left arm, and my fingers are totally numb. Mine unfortunately is from the MS and I hope that it will get better in time. Just have to wait and see. LOL and Best Wishes. I hope you are feeling better today.
