Hi Dana and All, Did you decide to chelate your youngest because she demonstrated autistic tendencies or because she showed mineral transport problems in a DDI hair analysis? I ask because we have a wonderfully lively 22 month old boy who has age level receptive language (getting objects we ask him to get, following one step commands, etc.) but has little expressive speech (says dada, mama appropriately, points to what he wants, signs more, all done, please, and gives us the PECS picture for french fries.) He waves hi and goodbye, and gives us hugs and kisses spontaneously. As for autistic tendencies, we have seen sporadic toe walking (which seems to be increasing) and he seems to imitate, sporadically, his big (10 years old)brother's hand flapping (which actually has decreased over time). He was NOT vaccinated and has NOT had any antibiotic treatment. For those of you who are curious, I had four established amalgams and only one dental visit (cleaning only)during my pregnancy with him and no rhogham shots or any other shots during or before labor. We did do a DDI hair analysis and it did NOT meet the counting rules but he was low in several minerals like selenium and lithium. We have supplemented Vitaman C consistently, and have tried CLO without seeing any benefits. We did not give him gluten until 15 months and he was already delayed in expressive speech by that time in regards to other 15 month olds. I am in a quandry as to what to do next with him since he does not show any other overt signs of autism except the above but I also don't want to do the " wait and see " routine we did with our older boy who is autistic. So, has anyone gone ahead and chelated without the overt signs of autism to get expressive language or am I being paranoid with our fourth son?? Thanks in advance to all who share their experience and take care, Becky in Chesapeake, VA
