Guest guest
My son is now 4 years old, and we had his hair tested for elements shortly after he was diagnosed with PDD at 2 years old. We did about 11 rounds of DMSA with him, which pulled out very little mercury, a lot of tin and aluminum, and some lead. We were under the care of Amy Holmes at the time, and she subsequently switched us over to the MT Promoter approach. I have recently been purusing this list again and pulled out my son's very first hair test of 2 years ago. I was suprised using the counting rules that he does not qualify as mercury toxic. Am I wrong? Is there any reason to be alarmed at the arsenic in his hair? I wonder if we should have ever chelated, or if chelation now with MT Promoter is necessary. He did test with a high Cu/Zn ratio (1.5), when he was baseline tested last year. Anyway here are his results. Any guidance or direction would be most appreciated. LAB: DDI Hair elements test. Guest guest
Yes. Arsenic is an issue for many on the spectrum. Make sure you've identified and removed the sources of exposure: pesticides (particularly used on golf courses, orchards, and cotton fields), stain restistance on carpets, drapes, etc., also in water. ALA chelates arsenic. S Is there any reason to be alarmed at the arsenic <BR> in his hair? I would suggest you not bother with alarm if possible. ALA does chelate arsenic. You can look for sources. Or you may decide to do another hair test. http://www.danasview.net/metals.htm > I wonder if we should have ever chelated, or if > chelation now with MT Promoter is necessary. Unfortunatly the counting rules do not appear to be totally reliable, from what I can tell. Did chelation appear to help your son? I would go more by that than anything else. But the mineral transport shown is very normal. Yellow results for toxic elements are not necessarily really a big bad deal--- it is not that abnormal. None the less, you do have quite a number of yellow results in toxics. So I'm not sure that is " okay " . best, Moria He did test with a high > Cu/Zn ratio (1.5), when he was baseline tested last year. > > Anyway here are his results. Guest guest
Thank you Moria and for responding to my post. We jsut ran another hair test via our first visit with Pfieffer last week. Hopefully, we will get the results back in a few weeks. It will be interesting to compare where my son was 2 years ago to now, espeically since he has received some chelation, MT Promoter, and other nutrients (B-12, GSH, TTFD, etc). I appreciate your thoughts. Beth > > My son is now 4 years old, and we had his hair tested for elements > > shortly after he was diagnosed with PDD at 2 years old.
