Pam,

Sorry to hear that you're not doing well.

It's very hard without meds.. I don't take any pain meds due to an allergy.

I don't know of any Drs. in upstate NY. I used to treat in NYC, if you want the name of my Dr. there, please let me know.

Blocks work for some, don't work for some others... depends on where the RSD is, who does the block, etc. They were not successful for me.

Finding a way to cope is the most important things.. biofeedback, relaxation, or something that helps you take your mind of the pain for a part of the time.

No one could cope with the pain that we have if that is all we think of.. I find lots of ways to divert my attention... it is hard, but it can happen.

Hugs,

Jo

Pam,

I cannot talk that much now, but live in upstate New York. A town called Saugerties. All my doctors are in Poughkeepsi because of my MS, so I also use the doctors there for WC. I have a GREAT pain management doctor and an incredible neurologist. I also think that I have one of the best OBGYN's in the state of New York. He already performed two major surgeries on me! Please write me later if you are interested in the doctors that I can suggest to you. I will be back around 8pm. Take Care and LOL

Pam, I don't know about blocks for whole body but I don't know why not. The doc just has to locate the point(s) of origin. I am so sorry that you are so ill. Hang in there, even if it does seem that way now, it will get better over time. Get the doc to amend your meds not represcribe that's what mine did to help me when I supposingly had had my limit for the month. Good Luck, my friend. I will say a special prayer this morning for you.

Dawn,Thank you for the advise and yes I would like the name of your doctors that would help a lot. I have rsd in so many places it is scary. I worked in healthcare in the medical surgical wing for over 23 years and now it is hard to be a patient because I know how doctors are. all my rsd came from an abusive marriage that I was in for23 years. I have been away for 6 years and now my rsd is so bad I get very angry and sad. I will admit that I not a good patient. I tend to procrastinate when I know what I should do. thanks for the information. yes I do know how hard it is to type thats why I 'm getting a voice activated program does any one have one???? my hot water treatment seemed to help so far today .. hugs to you all Pamdawn lorenz

Pam,

I just wanted to comment on the voice activated programs. I am from

Texas and have a very prominent southern accent. I purchased a voice

activated program and was so excited about it taking some stress off

of me back when I was still able to work. During the set up program

you have to read things for the program so that it can identify words

in the way in which you speak. The program I got never could identify

the words from me because of my accent LOL It was so funny as I was

reading things because when I'd finish everytime it would say the same

thing to me.

I also have a sprint cell phone and if you've ever called sprint you

will know that they also have a voice activated system. You tell the

computerized voice what it is you are wanting. The dang female voice

never can understand me and always has to transfer me to a " person "

LOL Oh the horrors of speaking " southern " LOL

If you can get the program to work for you I'm sure it will help you

bunches. I wish you luck!

I suppose its only human to not only hate the disease but have some negative feelings for who or what caused it. I despise this and while I know the accident was never intentional I resent that which caused it. I wont go so far as to say I hate who caused it but the actions behind it could have been avoided.

Donna,

I know that it is normal to hate this disease, but don't let that consume you, at first I was so angry and would constantly say that this is so unfair etc, etc, etc. Finally one day I decided I was not going to become bitter and mad at the world, so I finally accepted that this is what I have, and I just have to adjust to my limitations and do the best I can. Of course mine wasn't caused by an accident or any injuries. I am one of the rare ones that it just happened, one day I walked a 7 mile course with my sister, at 13 minute miles no less, the next day I couldn't bear weight on my left knee and onward it went :-).

I hope you are having a good pain day,

Lin

Hi PamI've been working in and out of the healthcare field for close to 20 yrs myself and I am also the worst patient when it comes to doing what Im supposed to be doing rather than what I've been told to do. Most of the time it works to my advantage but not so with this evil thing.I suppose its only human to not only hate the disease but have some negative feelings for who or what caused it. I despise this and while I know the accident was never intentional I resent that which caused it. I wont go so far as to say I hate who caused it but the actions behind it could have been avoided.I worked in an alzheimers unit as a certified aide. My job on that particular morning was to give a bath to one of the residents. Mind you they dont like water very much and she was no exception lol. Being that she has this illness she had no concept of pain or hurting another person and grabbed my wrist and twisted it violently. I knew this womans temper but had to bathe her alone as we were "short staffed", nothing unusual there. anyway to make a long story short I should have been buddied up with someone but wasnt due to budget cuts and now here we sit 11 almost 12 months later still paying for their shortcuts.Anyway, lol..just my .02 on the subject. Have a great day Pam and I look forward to hearing more from you!HugsDonna

Carla - I'm sitting here laughing about your experience with voice-recognition programs. Dang, they'd have one heck of a time with JoAnn's voice !!! I'm sure that Tricia, Donna, and I would have no difficulty given that we have the pure, crystal clear, melodious and proper English of New England. Okay Barbara who has this really BIG Yankee accent as sorry Ginny, but so do you and Barbara you want to talk about me, I have no accent and Carla does not either.......it is just all Yankees which we know is anyone outside state of Tx just never learned to speak correctly......come on Carla, support me on this one as this is an on going subject. Yankee thinking you can speak well when you say "car" like cccccccccccccaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar with emphasis on c and a and then finally comes the r. Takes 10 minutes to get that word out of your sweet Yankee voice my friend. Now please, lets rethink who has the accent and know when you get past the shock of the pump and kink in tube you will recant such a horrible miswording about me having somesort of accent. Right?!, Barbara, Right?!......I can't hear you Barb.....speak up woman.......Okay I heard you, and your forgiven friend. Carla she said she is sorry, did not mean we have accents and they speak perfect was a drug induced, shock thing, got her off balance.......so all is fine now. Whew, glad that is all taken care of.

Pam

I think we are all guilty of pushing ourselves too far sometimes. I'm

terrible about doing that. Having had the week I've had one would

have thought I'd have been smart and laid low for a few days but

nope, not I....I've been running my tail off the last 2 days and have

managed to put myself into a slight flareup :( but its nothing a

little extra pain med and a good nights sleep wont cure lol.

my new husband brought me home a new kitten he is so good to me I am

very lucky. her name is midnight she is a lot of company for me.

Kittens are great company, too bad they grow up to be little demonic

creatures LOL..just kidding..I have always had cats in my house, I

have 2 now that are my constant companions.

Take care Pam and talk to you soon!

Hi Donna and Pam,

I think it is ok to push yourselves somewhat but not to where a flare up happens. I have a new kitten too, well I have had him for a month now, he and my other cat are my constant companion, if fact one is by me right now. I think he is a little jealous because my granddaughter's been here today.

> I keep pushing thru the pain and making my self do stuff.PamI think we are all guilty of pushing ourselves too far sometimes. I'm terrible about doing that. Having had the week I've had one would have thought I'd have been smart and laid low for a few days but nope, not I....I've been running my tail off the last 2 days and have managed to put myself into a slight flareup :( but its nothing a little extra pain med and a good nights sleep wont cure lol.my new husband brought me home a new kitten he is so good to me I am very lucky. her name is midnight she is a lot of company for me.Kittens are great company, too bad they grow up to be little demonic creatures LOL..just kidding..I have always had cats in my house, I have 2 now that are my constant companions.Take care Pam and talk to you soon!HugsDonna
