Guest guest
Besides Celery, what does he limit himself too. Be specific, because most likely the food he self limits to the most is the culprit and needs to be removed. a --- " Laurie/Dave Skubby " <skubby@...> wrote: Hello! Guest guest
LOL When you figure this out let me know will ya? My son is essentially a vegetarian. He will not eat meat. We did finally find a 100% organic beef hotdog hw would eat so thats it. NO VEGETABLES. I think about doing the SCD all the time, but there is no way he will eat meat and veggies. He will eat fruit, cereal, PBJ, popcorn, chips, and pancakes. [ ] EXTREMELY restricted diet! Hello! My son with ASD is 8, really skinny (gorgeous too, but I digress)... Guest guest
My 12 y.o. nephew w/ HFA was telling me about the food pyramid today and knows the recommended number of servings for each group. I asked him what he eats from the fruit groups...grapes and apples. Vegetable group...carrots. Meat... " I'm a strict vegetarian " ...I mentioned that beans and nuts also qualify for the protein group and he says he doesn't eat either. Everything else comes from dairy, sweets, and grains. When he was younger his parents attended support groups and said the group members introduced themselves by naming the 6 foods their children would eat. Guest guest
Celery is high in sodium. Some ASD kids also lick their hands/skin...(for the salt?) S > Hello! Especially when I see all of those vegetables listed - celery is literally the only vegetable the child will eat... My son does not tolerate most vegetables, so it might be that celery is the only vegetable your child knows WON'T cause him to have problems. My son does not tolerate orange/red/green foods, even with enzymes. Fortunately this is improving and he now can eat small quantities without problems. But I still must avoid larger quantities. > > Yes, we do supplements, yes, we do chelation etc. > For some kids, supplements cause problems and make them not want to eat because the SUPPLEMENTS are making them feel sick. What supplements do you give? Consider removing all or some of them, then see if he will start eating again. Then add back one at a time to find the problem/s. Or consider enzymes http://www.houstonni.com/ http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/ Dana
Guest guest
Wow...it never occurred to me...my son often licks his Pringles chips before eating it...so what does it mean? He's craving salt/sodium? Do I need to do something about it? RE: [ ] EXTREMELY restricted diet! > > Celery is high in sodium. Guest guest
Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to that. If he'll drink juice consider making fresh veg juice with celery in it. Others on the list have said some kids will also put salt from the shaker in their hands and eat it straight. Have you tried digestive enzymes? They helped when I was at the worst of my mercury poisoning and weighed only 82 lbs., got me back up to 100 lbs. at the time (I'm 5'6 " and my natural weight is 105-110 lbs. I think others on the list have said that their kids have expanded the list of what they'll eat after going on enzymes. S
> >
> Hello!
