Guest guest
I know constipation has been a problem for a lot of people starting SCD (my son has been on it for four and half months) and I have been following most (or all) of hte suggestions I've read. For three weeks, he's been getting oj and prune nectar once a day (sometimes twice), I peel and cook all fruit and veggies, recently I stewed some prunes and mix about tsps of of that concoction in with his nut yogurt and so far the problem has only grown steadily worse. Now it's been about four or five days since he's had anything but little bits of stool leakage in his underpants. (Before that, it was tiny amounts--he's clearly VERY backed up). What am I doing wrong? Is there some sort of emergency protocol that gets more fiber into him? He didn't have this problem in the beginning. Is it possible that too much meat and nut butter and eggs causes this? (For magnesium, we give him Oz water which doesn't seem to help too much. The last time I tried a big dose of Magnesium Citrate he threw up, but I'm thinking about ordering Kirkmans. Would that help?) To add to all this, we just kept him home from school and gave him an enema that produced nothing. What does this mean? Thanks for any help anyone can offer. Ditto for other foods, ie meats, nut butters etc. Any supplements? >recently I stewed some prunes and mix about tsps of of that concoction in > with his nut yogurt and so far the problem has only grown steadily worse. How much nut yogurt is he eating , how long ago did you start? Was he able to hold in the enema at all. Once when I had a blockage they gave me an enema at the hospital. They had to do two. I wasn't able to hold the enema long enough to have any effect. The second enema really did the trick. Did you get the enema from a pharmacy or was it a homemade one? Elaine also recommends glycerin suppositories to get things moving. From the constipation protocol, " On the fourth day if this does not work, then insert a glycerin suppository (get in drugstore) while you are sitting on the toilet and hold it in for one minute. If it still doesn't work, do the same thing the next day. It would not hurt on the first day you try the glycerin suppository after breakfast to use another one before going to bed. " Other suggestions: warm the oj and prune nectar combo. See if he will drink some hottish liquids peppermint tea or just hot water. Keep us updated. Guest guest
For me, the nut butters do constipate. Maybe try more cooked veggies. Does he drink lots of water? I'm sorry and will be praying for the solution to come. Blessings, _____ From: cammiemcg@...
