Guest guest
What’s wrong with Visicol prep? You only have to swallow pills – lots and lots of pills – with water… lots and lots of water. There are people in this group who have successfully prepped with Visicol (according to their doctors, who have deemed it an effective purgitive) and find it infinitely preferable to what I call The Toiletbowl Margarita From Hell. Maureen (who has yet to have her first-ever colonoscopy, but who is very familiar with the yucky-tasting stuff… and who also happens to be married to the guy who gets his colon scoped every 24 weeks)
Guest guest
Take it from me that the Visicol prep is preferable. No nausea( ok well pretty much no nausea). It will however ream you out! Good luck to whomever has to do this. Ali
Guest guest
One of the drs I work with has his patients use Feets phosphosoda. It is 2 oz of real awful but better than the gallon. Guest guest
Todd always used the Fleets phosphosoda for colonoscopies…this also was prescribed for both boys before the living donor transplant. I am glad this discussion came up now, because my husband is having his first and the doctor prescribed the nasty gallon stuff. I have a call in to the doctor to see why he can’t take the Fleets or Visicol…seems to be a better option by far. Guest guest
Maureen: How I would love to be able to use the pills but unfortunaltly in Canada they are not approved by our Drug Administration. I can only dream of such an easy solution. Debbi B. -- In , " Maureen White " <moe@t...> wrote: > > What's wrong with Visicol prep? Guest guest
Joanne The gallon deal is probably the worst of all preps. The fleet can be mixed making it a bit better too. "Chasers" are important to rinse the mouth also. Best jd, 45 UC 1973, Jpouch 2000, Chronic Pouchitis 2001, PSC 2004, Stage 3 Southern, IL krmpotich@... Guest guest
I've taken Go-lytely/Co-lyte as a prep every year (except one) since 1986. I've learned to tolerate it by: Drink it cold (refrigerate the night before). Don't breathe through your nose while drinking. Plain or pineapple is easiest for me (NOT cherry!). Start at least 5-6 hours before bed time. Don't wipe, but pat dry (or irrigate). You can clean up later. Stay warm, sweats/sweater and down jacket. Get a good book to read (keep your mind occupied). My instructions always say not to drink anything else during that time period. Guest guest
I agree with Arne on how to get through the gallon of bowel cleaner except: 1) Chilling in the frig makes it too cold for me - I just mix with tap water and let it sit out at room temperature while I down it. 2) Any flavoring makes it unpalatable. Too much nasty aftertaste from all of them. Tim R > > I've taken Go-lytely/Co-lyte as a prep every year (except one) since 1986.
