Guest guest
, I am sure that you are not the only one hoping to be able to go back to a " normal " diet. But Elaine cautions not to try non-SCD foods until 1 year AFTER the last symptom is gone. Since you have been on SCD for 1 year, it is unlikely that all of the symptoms were gone within a week of starting. So, my unpopular answer is that it is too soon to try to reintroduce non SCD foods. Guest guest
Hi , > Here is a question that may be a little unpopular, but I hope not. Hmm... the only kind of question I really don't want to see is more SPAM... " Would you like to be free of debt? " > My son has been on SCD for 1 year. I have heard many people describe these > symptoms when they are just starting the diet, even Moms who are > doing the diet just to support their kids rather than because they > have gastrointestinal issues. Since he *did* have a reaction when he had them and when you resumed the diet that points to not being ready to have illegals... yet. Elaine recommends waiting at least one year after their last symptom has disappeared. > What is confusing to me is that I have heard adults who have been on > SCD long term say they eat SCD foods most of the time but they can > have infractions on special occasions. I have seen these too but most of these waited at least one year. Over the years, I have also seen some that reintroduced illegals too early and then had to wait even longer to be symptom free and then for at least a year after that. Many of them wish they just had waited a bit longer. I really do sympathize with you that it is so hard with a child, especially since he is allergic to nuts. Have you looked at any of the pumpkin recipes? Is he able to tolerate properly prepared (dried) beans? If yes, please let me know, I may have some alternatives for you. Yes, we can tolerate dried beans. I would love to hear about any ideas that you have for alternatives! Mom to Zachary
Guest guest
Can he tolerate tahini? I have subbed tahini successfully for all the pb recipes on pecanbread website. I have made tahini/banana pancakes and waffles, tahini caramels and tahini cookies all using the pb based recipes and Sam has loved them all. He has a lowish tolerance for pb and was attending a nut-free preK last year. I find the tahini nice when we get pbed out! Chrystee > > Sheila - > Thanks for the sympathy. Guest guest
Hi Chyrstee, Elaine doesn't like us to overdo seed butters because of cyanide. http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/seed_butter s.htm Sheila > Can he tolerate tahini?
