Marla:

I am 11 months out and down 135 lbs so, so far so good, While I am still in the "window" of weight loss, I can sense it gradually closing. However, I am still losing at about the same rate as since surgery, so I can't complain.

My diet varies quite a bit as I am one of the fortunate ones who can eat any meats, pastas, etc. with no problem. Here goes:

Breakfast - Orange juice and a CIB shake (on weekends I might have cereal instead of the CIB)

Lunch - Usually a Lean Cuisine meal (any kind with chicken or fish - no beef) or a bowl of soup or maybe a leftover from home.

Dinner - Whatever the rest of the family is having - tomorrow night it will be Swedish meatballs over noodles with veggies, but it is rarely beef.

Again, mostly chicken or fish. Tonight it was leftover turkey, squash and mashed potatoes. Yummy!

Snacks - These vary too but are usually fruit or yogurt. I also drink a glass of milk before bed (skim).

In addition I drink a minimum of 50 to 60 ounces of water per day. I also exercise a minimum of 4 times per week on the treadmill or bike. This does not include walking the dog which I do twice a day.

Sometimes I too can eat more than others. The other night I ate a whole bag of microwave popcorn and it gave me no trouble at all. Dr. Thayer, Sue and always say the goal is to allow us to learn to eat like "normal" people - moderation and with some thought to what goes in our mouths. I'm trying but know it will be a forever effort on my part. I find I do better if I try 5 to 6 smaller meals per day then try to eat "3 squares" and nothing in between. I get too hungry sometimes. I know I have gone on for awhile; hope all the rambling helps.

This may sound like a silly question but, i'm hearing

quite abit about people who eat 5 or 6 meals a day.

I'm wondering around what times people are eating them

and are any larger than others.....maybe some examples

would help. Also does everyone try to eat in 30 min.

time frames??

,

Here’s what I ate yesterday:

9:30 - cup of hot cereal, small coffee with half and half and splenda

11:00 - handful of trail mix

12:30 - 1 whole grilled chicken wrap with veggies and mustard, small

bag of baked potato chips

4:00 - small bag of pita chips

6:00 - 1 banana

9:00 - 1 large slice of pepperoni pizza, 2 cookies

So, there you have it. I’m certainly not the best example, but that’s

fairly typical for me. Actually, I often only eat half the sandwich for

lunch, but yesterday I was particularly hungry.

Congrats on your weight loss Lois!

Your one year mark is right around the corner....how wonderful! You are

looking so happy and healthy these days and I wish you continued

success. I think your dog is pretty lucky to get 2 walks a day...
