Debbi,

Cellcept comes in hard elongated tablets which are odorless. Neoral

(cyclosporin) capsules come in blister packs which release a faintly

skunky odor when they are opened. Their large size, odor and blister

packs make them much less convient to take than Prograf (tacrolimus)

their primary alternative in immunosuppression therapy.

Initially on Neoral & Cellcept, now on 3mg Prograf bid & 1000mg

Cellcept bid.

Thanks Tim for the explanation between the two. I always get them

mixed up.

Tim/Debbie,

That's weird. I guess it is where you get your drugs what they look

like. I was never on Neoral, but I was on Cellcept. My Cellcept were

big capsules in a regular jar and I don't recall an odor or a taste to

them. Immediately after tx, I was on Cellcept, Prograf and Prednisone.

I'm now on 2 mg Prograf in the morning and 1 mg at night. I also take

5 mg of Prednisone once per day. They discontinued the Cellcept this

summer when I was having all the infections in my bile ducts and

everywhere else.

My wife Lori received her transplant in February '04. Initially, she

was on Cellcept and Prograf. The Cellcept was replaced by Rapamune

after the first month or so, then the Rapamune was discontinued after

a few weeks.

Lori currently takes 3mg of Prograf daily and 2 1/2 mg of Prednisone.

We still get promotional mailings from Cellcept, they have pretty good

freebies if you get on their mailing list.:-)

Lee,

Thanks for the encouragement. My fever last night had me worried.

After 500 mg of Tylenol, it continued to rise for an hour - all the

way up to 101.7. I was patient, though, and when I saw it coming back

down, I decided it wasn't worth a trip to the ER. I'm having my CT

scan of my sinuses tomorrow. They think that's the source of my fevers

and depending on the results, I may be having sinus surgery to fix

it...Wish me luck.

How's ?

Take care,

Glad to hear they are checking your sinuses.

Unfortunately we have had our share of sinus infections in this house

but with my younger son!

I hope they clear this up for you soon.

Bill is doing well, we dropped his cirpo to 250mg on Saturday and we

are waiting to see how it goes.

He finished shooting his movie this past weekend and they had the

wrap party on Friday night.

We are not sure what is next but he is looking!

Deb in Va.

Do you know what you are allergic to as in doing the allergy testing? I

found that I am not allergic to much of anything except dust mites.

Environmental solutions , a decongestant, powerful antibiotic for 30 days

and script antihistamines did the trick after months of what you describe

occurred. I got this type of workup only by going to an allergist. I had

seen GP's, ENTs had scans, potions etc. As the allergist put it, your sinus

must first flow because if the drain is plugged, the pool will eventually

become infected and inflamed. I thought for sure I was headed to surgery,

but what I needed was someone who knew not just what to do but in what order

to do it in.
