Guest guest
As far as quality goes, I would recommend a Sanyo transcriber. However, their footpedals are only 2 pedal type. Olympus has a transcriber that has a 3-pedal footpedal, but as far as quality goes I cannot say because I have never owned or used one. A friend of mine has one, and she loves it. I have had my Sanyo for 10 years and it has never given me a lick of trouble. Panasonic, on the other hand, in my opinion is crap. I went through three machines in 4 months because they stopped rewinding. Just my 2 cents. microcassette recorder Hi, Does anyone have a good microcassette transcriber machine to recommend? I went to Staples last night, but all they had in stock were ones that had foot pedals with a play button on the right and a rewind on the left - no play button in the middle, and no fast forward. Is this normal for foot pedals that go with microcassette transcribers? I have three other pedals on my PC for other jobs and they all have three buttons. I'd love to know if this is standard. Thanks, RT@... www.mt-resources.com
Guest guest
I have been watching this thread with great interest. I have the • Olympus T-1000 Pearlcorder micro-cassette transcriber • Sony M2020 micro-cassette transcriber with rerecord feature • Lanier P-142 micro-cassette transcriber • Panasonic RR-830 standard cassette transcriber Out of the above I would highly recommend the Lanier (any model). I bought two of the above same model just to have a back-up on hand. Lanier is so heavy duty and are definitely worth repairing if they " have issues. " I think even the Lanier headsets are better quality sound. Just my opinion..... Bev
Guest guest
I've only ever used the Panasonic microcasette and yep only two. Now that I am on the internet using my WAV pedal, I now have 3 and it bugged me at first as I was only used to two. Some MT's have nothing nice to say about the Panasonic, but in my 8+ years of using them, I've had very little trouble. Sound quality was good, never ate a tape and was very reliable. At least that was my experience with Panasonic. Val microcassette recorder Hi, Does anyone have a good microcassette transcriber machine to recommend? Guest guest
In my humble opinion a 3-function foot pedal wins hands down. My first microcassette transcriber was an inexpensive Sony from Office Depot that same with only play and backspace functions on the foot pedal. After using a 3-function while working in-house I guess I was spoiled. The Sony was also horribly loud; it made loud clicking sounds. My kids complained if I worked at night while they were upstairs trying to sleep. I've used an Olympus and loved it and recently bought a Dictaphone and it's great too. Both have 3-function foot pedals and more choices for tone control, speed, and auto backspace. These have all become important to me in a transcriber over the last year and a half. HTH. The sound improvement over the Panasonic I used to have is unbelievable. I think just in the first day of use, my typing speed increased by 25% or more because I could hear that much better. I've been using my Lanier now for over 5 years and love it. Wouldn't use anything else at this point. D

Guest guest
Deb, you beat me to it!! I have a Pearlcorder T100 which I have used for about 5 years, and I love it too! It has the 3-function pedal and adjustments for volume, tone, speed, etc, 2 playing speeds. And, yes, it's quiet. I can't think of anything I don't like about it. One related question, though - I can't find any of those little spongy thingies that go on the earpieces, and since I've been without them, my ears do get a little tired/sore. Any ideas where to find those? I used to get them from the Lanier guy when I worked in a clinic. Carol in NC Starting training with MedQuist on the 18th!!! Guest guest
You can get all types of headset spongies at: http://www.transcriptiongear.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY & Store_Code=T & \ Category_Code=EARCUSH This is where I get all of my headsets and accessories. For the record, I have 2 Sanyo Memo-Scriber TRC-5200s. I love them. I wouldn't trade them for anything. Unfortunately, you can't buy them anymore. I have had one for 10 years, and the other I purchased from ebay for about $50 about 2 years ago as a backup. If there is ever another one on there, you'll have to fight me for it! LOL They also come with only a 2-pedal footpedal, but I'm used to it, so it's okay. HTH Jen Re: microcassette recorder I highly recommend the Olympus Pearlcorder. Guest guest
I did see those spongy things for replacement. I thought, hey I'll have to remember that. I think it was either radio shack or in walmart in their electronic section. I guess you could shop online as well. Maybe even your company would send you a set. Sometimes they just do it no charge, throw it in an envelope for you. Jodi Re: microcassette recorder I highly recommend the Olympus Pearlcorder. It's a wonderful machine and is very quiet.
