OMG Jenn,

This is NOT a silly question - you ABSOLUTELY should take them off -

if your fingers swell and they will. from all the fluid and they

can't get the rings off, they'll CUT them off. I was so thankful I

struggled to get my, already tight, rings off before surgery because

as I lay there pre-op some elderly woman beside me was told they'd

have to cut her rings off if she couldn't get them off before

surgery. I almost gave up the night before thinking the removal was

just about theft. I figured if I couldn't get them off, a theif

certainly couldn't either - way off on the reasoning. Get the point -

TAKE THEM OFF. Hope I've been helpful!

Jenn,

Yes, leave them at home just to be safe. They’ll tell you not to bring

any money or valuables to the hospital.

Jenn,

You will be receiving a lot of IV fluids, and they tend to puff you

up. If you don't want to have the rings tight and hurting, I would

suggest removing them and leaving them at home. Otherwise, if

you really want them on, the nurses will put tape on them to make

sure they are not lost, stolen, etc. I took mine off because I knew

I would be getting IV fluids plus steroids which really does a job

in filling you with fluid. For safety sake, I recommend that you

leave them at home. Sally

silly pre-op question for you...

Hi Jenn,

I think they make you take off all jewelry before surgery.

Jenn,

I couldnt get my wedding band off. They cut it with a diamond cutter

when i was in pre op. If i could have taken it off I would have. It

cost me $20 for the repair. If you cant get them off Let them cut them.

It was a nice clean cut. Go to a jewler and let him cut them and repair

them there. YOu can pick them up when you get out.

I gained 35 lbs and most of it was in my finger. I would have lost my

finger if the ring was still there.
