<< I have never run into

I've heard of Newfane, living this close! I run into the same thing.....most

people, if i tell them i live in Akron, NY, its like they don't even hear me

say NY....they automatically think Ohio! Akron, being the small town it is,

i've not many that have heard of Akron, NY! We were on the ferry (crossing

over from Burlington VT to NY), met a man with a dog (my daughter being the

dog lover she is made friends rather quickly!) and we started to chat, asked

where we were headed and said we live in Buffalo, after all no one has a clue

where Akron is....he said do you really live in Buffalo or? Come to find out

he lived in Tonawanda years ago, and knows of Akron.....

Anywho......nice to meet ya! : )

! Welcome, welcome, welcome!

What a great time you've picked to make this change for yourself. You

know, it's funny, I was JUST mentioning on another list something I saw on

TV yesterday. It was a piece on the Discovery Health Channel, and they

were talking about Syndrome W, something that only perimenapausal women

get that makes it REALLY hard to lose weight. They said that the best way

to combat it is to do LOW CARB! I thought that was really cool! They said

that apparently women's bodies don't deal with carbs the same way once

they enter that time of their life. So looks like you picked something

good for a LOT of great reasons!

Congratulations on that weightloss, btw. 14lbs in a little over a month

doesn't by ANY means make you a turtle. You're doing SO well! You didn't

put the weight on overnight, hon. It won't come off that way either.

Good luck, and again, welcome to the group!

Thanks for the welcome, . I lost 10 of those

lbs. in the first week, so I guess I've been a little

disappointed since then. Overly eager I guess, lol.

Thanks for the info about Syndrome W, I have heard a

bit about it, but didn't know that they recommended

this type of diet for it. I AM in the right

place! in TX

Ruthie,

You continue to work on us exercise-haters, but I think I can safely speak

for Terry, Robin and I when I say that any exercise we do is purely by

accident and that is unlikely to change. Yes, Terry does the stair stepper

for checking on/changing Duncan, and I did have to walk the neighborhood

last night chasing down a cat that seemed to enjoy the tropical heat index,

and look at Robin, she agreed to walk over her lunch break to help an

overweight friend at work. Of course, if I remember correctly she quickly

designated that task to someone else. LOL Some of us exercise more at

finding ways to avoid exercise than actually doing it. I'll stick with the

remote control weight lifting plan myself.

Hey,

I think I've figured out how to keep out of the Naughty Corner! I'm going to put an exercise bicycle in there! And stock the fridge with only EGGS! She hates eggs, as I recall . . . or is at least totally burned out on them. Let's see . . . exercise bike, bed of nails, a gross of eggs . . . what else?

Oh, yeah . . . a big 16 x 20 portrait of that boss she loves so much! HEHEHEHEHEHE! That should keep well away from the naughty corner and on the straight and narrow!

Gosh, Terry, you just made the naughty corner my destination of choice! Let me get this straight, you think putting a gross of eggs and a 16 X 20 portrait of someone that has made my life miserable is going to keep me AWAY from the naughty corner??? Do you see a flaw in your thinking anywhere???

I hate eating eggs unless in cake, cookies, donuts... That doesn't mean they have no use what so ever!

Yes, but the ONLY thing to eat in the Naughty Corner is eggs. The perfect food, remember? And there aren't any darts in the Naughty Corner for you to hurl at your boss's picture. And, before you even ask, tossing eggs at it is strictly prohibited!

A lot of people lose a whole bunch in the first week or two, but then the

rate slows WAY down when you actually start burning fat. To keep healthy,

you want to lose 1-2lbs (on average) while you're following this WOE. So

far, you've lost 2.8lbs/week! WTG!

I know that it's hard not to get discouraged, 'specially when you come

into this with certain expectations. Although this WOE is AWESOME, it's

no miracle. You have to work at it just like any other eating plan.

You'll do great though. Keep up the good work!

could bring some darts to entertain us!

And just what are you going to do, Terry? Send me to the naughty corner??? And, I don't care what you say, eggs are NOT the perfect food! They never have been and never will be!

Hey, just because it's a small roundish object that shoots out of a chicken's butt is no reason to discriminate against eggs, Missy!

Welcome to the list Donna! Is there any pattern to your sleepiness?

If it comes on within an hour of a meal, you may have eaten too many carbs.

I found that when I started eating low carb, my after-lunch drowsiness

completely disappeared.

Sleepiness can also be a sign of depression, so if you are feeling like you

are in the doldrums, that could be the cause. You might want to get your

thyroid checked as that could be a cause of tiredness. Heat makes me sleepy

too.

Welcome, Donna!

Ya know, everyone says that you're supposed to have all this energy when

you're in ketosis. And in the past, I have. But for some reason this

time around, I haven't noticed that at ALL. I get 8hrs of sleep per

night, and I still can't make it through the day without a nap. I can't

really say that it's boredom, 'cause I'm just as bored now as I was when I

did Atkins in the past. I can't say it's being over 50 'cause I'm 24. :)

I'm not sure what the deal is. (I doubt it's caffeine withdrawl 'cause I

was never a big one for caffeine BEFORE Atkins, so I don't miss it.)
