SCD should help clear up the occurence of vaginal yeast infections in

the long run. If you find you are having a hard time getting rid of

the yeast, I'd look into reducing your honey, fruit, cheese.....intake

some.

I just saw this post - does cheese really cause a lot of yeast infections????

I'm really wondering, my daughter loves SCD grilled cheese sandwhiches and eats

them often. She also battles yeast infections often.

your hfs will have GyNaTren in the refrigerated section by the probiotics. It's

a dual therapy with oral and vaginal suppositories.

Re: yeast infection, how to get rid of?

I am assuming you mean a vaginal yeast infection.....

I have heard of women applying yogurt to themselves and lying down for

awhile or sleeping all night that way (with an easy to clean surface

on their bed.) I have even heard of women soaking a tampon *in* yogurt

and inserting it.....I'm not sure how safe the later is though!

You can apply diluted Grapefruit seed extra to the vulva area, I'm

sure. Again, I'm not sure how safe this would be internally. I use

diluted GSE as a toner for my face, and ear wash, I have even inhaled

it to clean my sinuses out. My allergies get me really congested and

I get sinus infections easily and I'm trying to avoid antibiotics,

especially since I'm pregnant.

Definately keep eating some probiotics either through yogurt or legal

acidophilus supplements. You can also use other natural antifungals

like the carrot juice/ garlic combo or GSE mixed in a smoothie....etc

to boost those.

Good luck! Vaginal yeast infections are not fun!!!

Thanks for the info - the molds and aged thing brings it into perspective.

eats them often about once a day on average. She's a big bread eater. She

has finally hit the terrible 2's so getting much of a variation of food into her

has been a nightmare. She's still legal tho - I'm making sure of that. I do

manage to get some veggies and fruits into her, but they are hidden in bread and

pancakes. She won't eat meats. I swear she's the pickiest thing on earth - I

figure eventually she'll get over herself. Doc says she's healthy and not

worried about her so we just trudge on.

Her stools are much better on SCD, however they have been more loose lately.

She gets a ton of probiotics daily, enzymes and vits and minerals due to her

limited food choices. I can't say they coincide with each other tho. I think her

gut is still so messed up that healing is taking alot longer than normal. I feel

sure that part of this is probably due to her food choices as well. But, the

bright side is IMPROVEMENT!!!!!! In all areas I might add. I take each battle

with her as I need to and her food issues are on the back burner along with

potty training at this point. Her food issues are such a problem that she won't

eat with her class, she begins to gag when she see's them eat mac-n-cheese, etc.

She and her aide have to eat separately in the classroom and her aide has to eat

with her back turned to her, or while she is taking a nap (Ms. eats

regular food).

If anyone has any suggestions about possibly getting more into her diet with

this kind of adversity I'll listen. We've tried ABA food programs, letting her

starve (she'll wait you out for up to 6 days - after this long I have to give

in), tried to bribe her etc. I guess I'm hoping that she'll just decide to try

other foods one day and have as much peace with all of it as I can.

How often would you say she has them? Do you notice if they coincide

with other signs of die-off? Sometimes during die off, people get

yeasty rashes, perhaps her infections are related to die off.....Is

she getting any probiotics? How are her stools?

Karyn,

What probiotics are you giving? Just acidophilus only, right? I just thought I'd

ask.... in case, since we've had kids on the list who didn't do well on SCD who

were using other strains...... and improved when going to acidophilus alone, per

Elaine's recommendation.

And all of her supps are legal? (I know.... you've probably already thought of

that.)

I'm glad to hear she's improved so much! And " congrats " on hitting those

" terrible twos " ..... I know, that might seem weird but Katera's 8 and we still

have never hit that stage. I will look at it as progress if we do someday. :)

Yep - her supps are legal and all her probiotics are legal as well. One of

the things that boosted her progress is the Sensory Learning Program we went

through in September. It was really AWESOME and she made some really wonderful

gains with this, and we see them continually as well. We will know the full

impact it had on her by Christmas. I researched it and spoke with a ton of

parents before spending the $2500 to go through it, but it has been well worth

it.

is one of those kids that needs a multitude of things going on for her

recovery. I wish it was just one, but it's not. I take it day by day and

everyday is better so, I'm just glad we're moving forward rather than backwards.

The first time she threw herself in the floor and pitched a snit - I almost

cried - I don't think I need to tell you guys the difference between an Autism

tantrum and a typical 2 yr old tantrum. It's funny to see her defending herself

and taking things from other kids (she's very passive) and yelling " mine " and

playing tug-of-war with it. All in due time, I suppose. She argued with me for

the first time the other day, it was cute!!!! The terrible 2's is a stage of

development everyone says they can live w/o, I was glad to see that train come

through.
