Guest guest
Has she called her local health unit? Most (if not all) of them provide free breastfeeding classes so a nurse there may know. They would probably know where she can get one. I know the hospitals rent them. The small community hospital in Tofield (small town SW of Edmonton where I used to live) lends theirs out for free. I am in Edmonton but have never rented one, she can call the Capital Health Information Line at to find out maybe or at least get the number of her local health unit. Hope that helps. Guest guest
Michele, Thanks for the number. I will pass it on. The local nurse told her that since her baby was doing fine on formula that there was no need to breastfeed. AARGH! Wouldn't it be nice if the medical advice nurses give like this would fall legally under malpractice?! Too bad breastfeeding mothers don't have deep pockets like the formula makers. I could see the headlines now: Makers of Breastmilk sue Makers of Formula for Falsifying Data!
Guest guest
DUH! I guess some nurses still don't get it. We have a very proactive bfing program here. We have community health nurses trained in lactation who will come to your home and bfing classes at most (if not all) health centers. But still, a lot of moms don't nurse *sigh* Michele Michele, Thanks for the number. I will pass it on. Guest guest
, not sure if anyone has answered you or not, but most places that do home medical equipment will rent them, or she could call the lactation consutlants at the hospital they would know, Beckie ---------- > > To: breastfeedingonelist > Subject: RE: pump rental station in Edmonton? > Date: Sunday, February 20, 2000 4:01 PM > Michele, Thanks for the number.
