Guest guest
Hi Sorry I am asking so many questions but I'm desperate! Does non-albicans yeast cause itching. I've never had ithcing, only burning (?!). AS far as I know, an yeast infection itches more that it burns. I wonder if what I have is really yeast or something else. Kallikallina -kassandra wrote: Sandi- I wish I knew what kind of yeast I had. They never find it Mine doesn't show up on cultures. One girl told me that her yeast wasn't detected for years until she went to see Dr. Rodke. I understand your frustration. I also wonder what I have done to get this. I am 24 and never had a boyfriend because I wanted to be a good, decent girl. Mom told me that in order to get a good guy I need to be a good girl. So I listened. I was single for years because I wanted to do everything the right way. Now I'm single because I have a "mysterious" disease. I'm sick of being single and alone and agonizing!! What did I do?? KalliSandi Sharp <sharpsandi> wrote: Hi Kalli, The confusing thing is that there is not just one strain of a particular type of yeast. They do MIC studies when examining which drugs will be effective for which strains. You see, you could have Krusei 24 or Krusei 11 ( made up numbers for example). When I was going through the yeast problems 10 years ago I was so desperate that I called Lamisil's manufacturer, Novartis, and said I was a research scientist who wanted to see their MIC studies for the effectiveness of Lamisil and other antifungals on various types of yeast. So they sent me lots of data and graphs ( which unfortunately I can't send on to you b/c they are packed away somewhere in the attic or basement and it would take me days to find it unfortunately). But the graphs said things like Lamisil is effective against 75% of the strains of Krusei and 65% of Parapsilosis strains etc.( again made up numbers). The point is that it is not like someone can say Lamisil is 100% effective against Krusei...it may work for some strains of it and not others. Imagine yeast as flowers. Krusei could be considered as roses, but there are many types of roses. This is the way it is with yeast...only I wish it was as beautiful!! The best thing to do is to go with the results of the sensitivity study on your specific culture. Insist that the lab do sensitivities. Even though it is only a petri dish, it is more accurate for you than broad statements on effectiveness. Hope this helps. I have been doing so much doxy...now I think I may have yeast! I take daily Diflucan, but my yeast was Diflucan resistant. Oh no!!! What have I done! Sandi We won't tell. Get more on shows you hate to love(and love to hate): Yahoo! TV's Guilty Pleasures list. I wonder if what I have is really yeast or something else. > Interesting question, and I have the answer. (Unfortunately!) Lol. The answer is NO. Non-albicans does NOT have to cause itching. That's how I knew something was different about my infection. 10 years ago I had a simple Candida Albicans infection. It itched so badly I almost tore my crotch off. This time? Nope-- no itch nadda, nothing. It burned like a SOB! (But the acute phase of the burning has long since subsided. The Diflucan had to have helped somewhat months ago, but not all the way. Culture was still positive. Now it just gets inflammed and sore. ) So I started doing research and came across a couple studies which concluded that certain types of non-albicans species are not itchy, and instead are more about inflammation and burning. I have non-albicans: parapsilosis. It never itched. (I wonder if Sandi's parapsilosis itched? Yoooohoooo Sandi?)
Guest guest
Hi , My parapsilosis ddid not itch. But now I have some itching, after taking all this daily Diflucan and Doxy. I also have the burning too. I know you are right. I need to get culture with sensitivity study. But I also know I have tried everything in the past so this yeast would be resistant to most everything I've done most likely. Obviously it is Diflucan resistant. Since I was plagued with both parapsilosis and Krusei I would guess that it is one of those. I am going to a new gyn on Monday and hope that his culture will show something. I am going on vacation on April 14 and would love to be feeling better by then.. but these cultures take so long and there are so often false negatives. I am so upset. I had been through the yeast process for a year about 10 years ago and doing that diet and failing so many meds nearly drove me insane. I don't remember how MICs work. So I went to Wikpedia to understand it better. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), in microbiology, is the lowest concentration of an antimicrobial that will inhibit the visible growth of a microorganism after overnight incubation. Minimum inhibitory concentrations are important in diagnostic laboratories to confirm resistance of microorganisms to an antimicrobial agent and also to monitor the activity of new anitmicrobial agents.[1] Therefore, it seems to me that the lower the MIC the better, which is opposite what your doc said. Anyone else have an opinion??? Sandi It's here! Your new message!Get new email alerts with the free Yahoo! Toolbar.
Guest guest
Hello, I am reading that everyone that has yeast is taking antifungals in hopes of getting rid or the yeast? How many are also on the candida diet? I don't think we can get of the yeast without it. It is the only thing that worked for me. Diet and antifungals. The antifungals alone did not do the trick.See what's free at AOL.com.

Guest guest
Hi , Are you still treating the Lyme? I stopped the doxy this weekend as well as the Diflucan so hopefully the meds in my system won't sKew the culture. I see a new doc tomorrow. You said your pain is localized. So is mine , only in a different spot. Mine is right next to the urethra on both sides of the labia minora. It is red and slightly bumpy there. Of course, that is what I see with my magnifying mirror. Who knows what a doc would see w/o any magnification. But if I can actually see where the pain is, it is there and something physical is causing it! What should I do about the Lyme? I will talk to my doc about Buehler's (sp?) protocol. I really was doing so much better before a week and a half ago. Perhaps it is the nerve pain that has shifted like it always does, but there is absolutely no swelling and I can sit anywhere w/o feeling like I am crushing bone. However, now my labia are on fire even worse than before. One step forward, 10 steps back! Love, Sandi Never miss an email again!Yahoo! Toolbar alerts you the instant new Mail arrives. Check it out. Guest guest
hi sandi-- yes i am still treating my lyme. i am taking omnicef and also some of the herbs in buhner's protocol (cat's claw, japanese knotweed, glucosamine, and a few others). you know, maybe you are having a herx? it's quite possible, no? also, isn't it expected to have some flares during PT treatment? i don't think you should back off on your current treatment program for these reasons. if you are herxing, it's important to push through it, and flares are expected in pt. though i can completely understand and relate to the frustration of not knowing for sure whether it is an infection, a herx or what. it is absolutely abhorrent and ridiculous that in this day and age we can't have more solid answers to these questions. what does nanzeen say? julie > > Hi , > > Are you still treating the Lyme? Guest guest
Hi , I guess I'll see what the new gyn thinks tomorrow and then resume the abx if he doesn't see yeast under the scope. I did 2 new things about the time I got worse too. I started the Heparin injections AND I started Plaquenil. I read that Plaquenil make psoriasis worse - not that I've ever been diagnosed with that, but it did stand out in my mind as something to watch out for. I assume omnicef is an abx? Are you doing yeast prevention too?Great to hear from you. Love, Sandi Expecting? Get great news right away with email Auto-Check.Try the Yahoo! Mail Beta. Guest guest
hi marianne-- my doctor's office makes them...but i bet you could find them at a health food store, too. it's cheap too, i have a huge bottle that has lasted me a few months and it was only $15. julie > In a message dated 3/31/2007 7:52:36 PM Eastern Daylight Time, femifestoyahoo (DOT) com writes: > > > > i was having a really really hard time with sugar cravings, and dr. > metzger had me start taking cinnamon in capsules. i didn't think it > would but it has REALLY helped. now i hardly ever get cravings and if > i do they are minor. > > > , > > That's fascinating -- and kind of funny, actually.
