Hi Tina,

No, there are no legal garlic powders. You can use fresh garlic or

make your own by dehydrating. I now have a dehydrator but have also

used my oven to make it.

Ut oh! I thought all McCormick brand spices were legal. Is it just

the garlic that is not?

I am sure that some are legal and some are not. Look on the

bottles themselves. Oftentimes you'll find things like " corn

starch " used as an anti-caking agent.

I just use a garlic press and fresh garlic. It tastes so much better

than garlic powder. (I had never used fresh before SCD.)

Hi ,

Elaine doesn't like commercial onion or garlic powder.

Garlic and onion powder tend to pick up water molecules so they have

to have anticaking agents - often starch.

Many of the other McCormick spices are fine. But also please avoid

spice mixtures such as apple pie spice, curry powder or chili powder.

Buy the individual spices and make your own mixes. Such as some

cinnamon, ground cloves and ground ginger instead of " apple pie

spice "
