Amy,

If I may stick my opinion in here... a year or so ago, I had problems with my teeth.. I had to have two root canals, but I think they were better than having implants. Less chance of infection, etc.

I had a problem with novacaine, though. I don't get numb anymore. They kept trying (like 17 shots) and that hurt worse than anything, so find a dentist who will put you out if that is the case!

Hugs,

Jo

Amy,

I worked as a dental hygienist for 12 yrs. I worked for an implantologist for 2 of them. Implants are very invasive. Implants have come a long way from when they first came out..the failure rate was 50% then. If you smoke or have anything wrong with your gums or bones the failure rate is higher. Root canals are better then implants annyday. Keeping your real teeth is the way to go if you possible can..any dentist will tell you that. Good luck...GinnyAmy wrote:

hi everyone. i was wondering if anyone has had dental implants since RSD. i need to go to the dentist, planning it now since the kids are back in school, and was wondering if i should have root canals (which i really think i need) or have them yank it and put in an implant?? i'm wondering which one would be less invasive. any ideas? thanks!love, amy

Wow Ginny did not know you worked for dentist. My Mom worked for over 30 years for one and was the President of state Dental Asst. Even though was in the office often and knew of course the dentist well, still hate to have teeth done, especially root canal as scares me, but sure have to agree that a root canal would be best way to go Amy. Take care
