yoghurt maker questions

I just bought a yoghurt maker from Lucy's. I left the yoghurt in the maker

overnight, turned on. when I got up this morning the milk had separated, and

is very very watery. What went wrong? The directions on the yoghurt maker said

to leave it on for four hours, and Elaine's book says to leave it on overnight.

Maybe I should have only left the goats milk in there for 4 hours? what do you

think?

thanks,

Lana
