Guest guest
Joni, Thanks. I know we are suppose to but I couldn't remember why or what the big deal about it was. You are absolutly right about the Mal absorption thing and the B-12 thing. I called Sue and ask her. She said a few months isen't going to hurt me but it eventully would of. I'm the type of person who only has short term memory, lol So I am always asking questions that I've been told a hundred times. She said " no matter how much and how healthy we eat or how far out we get we will always have some kind of mal absorption in our bodys. " So I hope everyone can remember this for the next time I forget.LOL Thanks, Pam On Fri, 13 Apr 2001 07:04:14 -0500 " Dicastro, Joan " writes: > Pam, > > I remember Dr. Thayer and Sue telling me that I had to be willing to > commit to a live time of vitamins and supplements as recommended by > them. Guest guest
I was told it is a lifetime commitment to take all supplements as prescribed by the surgeon. With the mal absorbtion I do not wish to take any chances. I take Iron, Calcium, B-12, Multi vite, Vite C, E, Potassium. I am 7 years post op and my labs and bone density tests are perfect. I know several people who won't take the supps and are starting to have problems at 2-3 years out, pernicious anemia which is life threatening, start of osteoperosis, anemia.....and they have little energy and are now starting to gain weight because of the lack of energy, lack of exercise and on and on. Pernicious anemia is very dangerous. Can be life threatening. some symptoms are extreme tiredness, sore tongue, sore neck, hard to swallow. Many people think they just have a virus. I have never had the B-12 shots since I have faithfully taken 500mcgs daily since surgery. So, just goes to prove as we already know....Listen to your surgeon, do what you are supposed to do and you will most likely be okay.... Guest guest
It's my understanding we don't absorb all the needed nutrients after this surgery, therefore I was told to continue. I'd check w/your Dr. to see what he says. Dawny Original Message: ----------------- From: valiantduffy@...
