Amy,

I worked as a dental hygienist for 12 yrs. I worked for an implantologist for 2 of them. Implants are very invasive. Implants have come a long way from when they first came out..the failure rate was 50% then. If you smoke or have anything wrong with your gums or bones the failure rate is higher. Root canals are better then implants annyday. Keeping your real teeth is the way to go if you possible can..any dentist will tell you that. Good luck...GinnyAmy wrote:

hi everyone. i was wondering if anyone has had dental implants since RSD. i need to go to the dentist, planning it now since the kids are back in school, and was wondering if i should have root canals (which i really think i need) or have them yank it and put in an implant?? i'm wondering which one would be less invasive. any ideas? thanks!love, amy

Wow Ginny did not know you worked for dentist. My Mom worked for over 30 years for one and was the President of state Dental Asst. Even though was in the office often and knew of course the dentist well, still hate to have teeth done, especially root canal as scares me, but sure have to agree that a root canal would be best way to go Amy. Take care

Laurie,

In my opinion, it's a dream....because even with having the meds working right, you'll still have days where even getting out of bed is too much to do.

I'm having one of those days today.....I went to bed at 1 am, up at 3:30 am when Gene kicked me 3 times and then hogged the whole bed...... and now my whole right side from my neck down to my toes hurts, along with my whole back and left hip. Nothing is going right for me at all......

Oh, and as for a Partial....don't bother with them if you have soft teeth. They will do nothing but scratch what teeth you have left, causing even more pain, which in turn will mean having more teeth pulled and dentures in the end. Go straight from having a few pulled to all pulled, wait 6 weeks for mouth to heal, and then have dentures put in. Then you won't have to worry about having meds or RSD bothering your teeth again.....only have to worry about the Phantom pain that goes along with having them pulled...but Phantom pain is A LOT easier to deal with than the RSD is!

Amy,

are there some days you are just so full of energy and then back to the pain and fatigue? I want the good ole days. They don't happen so often anymore. That's what I'm trying to work for in getting medication right. Is it a dream?
