Does Fibromyagla go kind of hand in hand with RSD? I wonder about it cuz I have

about 5 of the so called spots that say you have the disease. Docs first

wondered if I had it way back when all this pain business started.

Thanks for reply. lroepke@...

Laurie, I do not know that it always goes with RSD but do know that

Arthritis goes with Fibro and very often so does Chronic Fatigue. I know my

had rsd first then Fibro and I had Fibro first then rsd. Hope you do

not have it and if do that it will stay mild for your sake. How is your

body doing Laurie? Is it cold in MN and if so is that hurting your body?

Perhaps sometime will get up your way when visit my sister-in-law that lives

in ST. area...are you close to that area? Hope your day goes well.

Ginny replied to Laurie about the Fibro and now just read your note....I have had Fibro over 14 years and likely longer than that, just treated that long. It is the most painful thing I know but then if body was total rsd think that would be worse most likely. The Fibro on me is head to toe and like last night been up all night sick from the pain and knots and have all the other problems, (I THINK) that go along with having Fibro.

My Rhuematologist got my diagnosis so fast was shocking as I at that time, did not know about it. Just know that the many different things it causes and affects is large. The knots in neck and other places can just make me so sick. Do you have anything you do to help relieve the pain of the huge knots? Sure would appreciate anyone that has ideas that work for them to ease the pain of the Fibro and the knots and feeling of worse case of flu........anyone have something that helps them...Ginny do you have anything could help me? Take care Ginny and Laurie. So sorry you have Fibro Ginny and sure hope you don't have it Laurie. Take care...Hugs

Re: General ? about FIBRO

Laurie,

Fibromyalgia is a secondary condition that can come from any chronic pain. Fybromyalgia is diagnosed clinically...you have to have 5 of the trigger points tender during examination out of the 15 or so that can be trigger points to be dx. What happens is the the muscles swell and affect the nerves by tightening around them. You can get neuropathy from it...severe pain in the tigger points and muscles and nerve pain. What happens with fybromyalgia is the muscles forget to losen up..they are always in a tightened position so that is what causes the pain..swelling then nerves to be affected. the trigger points are all over the body...in the neck...shoulders..collar bone ..elbows...knees...calfs...a rhuematologists is the likely dr to dx you. I got Fibromyalgia as a secondary condition from the arthitis. If you ever get told you have fibromyalgia without a primary dx...get the drs to really investigate the primary dx...it can be RSD..arthritis...celiac sprue...degenative disc disorder...osteoporosis...and anything that can cause chronic pain. Both insomnia and chronic fatigue go with fybromyalgia also. Excercise helps...so do certain meds...but as with RSD nothing works the same for everyone. If you think you have it...get the dx...alot of the symptoms of fibro seem to be similiar to RSD I find now that I have both. Alot of the same meds are used for both. Good Luck and I hope you don't have fibro on top of the RSD....Hugs..Ginny PS. I can send you tons of info on fibro...but you can also get tons on ask jeeves and web md...

How interesting Ginny. I have been to PT and they do not do deep massage as they say makes it worse and for me it does. I had deep massage and as did it felt good but afterwards for about 4 days was in worse pain ever. I am busy enough that think might get fair amount of moving around but not sure. Just know my body will hurt more, the more I do.

I hope this Flexeril helps as for now am so tight and legs so hard to walk on only thing can think to do is take half amount as told to take. Have to get back to PT as quit couple months ago but does help the way they do it on me.

For me cannot get into hot tub or bath or just get to hot outside as messes up my heart and blood pressure and heart rate. Would like to be in hot tub but last time just about knocked me out.

Well take care will write later. Hugs

Re: General ? about FIBRO

JoAnn,

Alot of things over the years helped me with the fibro..unfortunately after I got tolerant to the different meds that helped I would have to switch meds. Flexeral helped alot at first combined with amptriptaline and ultram. I found that naperson helped alot too. Valium combined with orudis helped also. Hot tubs helped tremendously to get the knots out..unfortunately with the RSD now very hot water hurts me so does cold. My dr actually prescribed me a hot tub and was hoping to have the ins cover it...but i really don't have the place to ut it right now...but it is an option you might want to look into. Ins will cover Hot tubs in PT places and gyms too. Walking helped alot..excercise helps fibro but work up to it...it may hurt worse at first but i learned that if you work through the pain it does help after awhile. PT helped alot..especially deep massage. Research on fibro says that stretching the muscles that are affected help the knots lossen up and I found it does. If you have not gone to PT before try ...they can show you different excersises to do at home that just focus on where you need it most. I am actually seeing a specialist that just deals with fibro at the end of the onth if he gives me anymore ways of finding relief i will surely pass it on...Hope you feel better Hugs..Ginny
