Guest guest
Welcome, Nevaeh to our wonderful group. I do hope you find some comfort and info here. Thank you for sharing your story. I sometimes think that families have a difficult time dealing with this.. a long term diagnosis (I still hope for a cure) for dealing with pain and disability. I think that my family thinks I will stay the way that I am forever, and won't ever get worse. I hope they are right. I look forward to getting to know you better as time goes on... Guest guest
Hello ~nevaeh My name is Kenny, and I would also like to welcome you to this group. I have found a lot of love, and support here. I am also new here, my story starts back in Nov., of 03, I sprained my right ankle, while working at wal-mart. After 8mos of seeing doc., I found a pain doc who did a nerve blocker shot in my lower right back, that is when all HELL let go,and that is when I found this group. The luv, support, and care I have found here means the world to me, so welcome, and I too look forward to getting to know you. With luv,and Prays Kenny My story. Thank you Teri, Barbara, Donna, and for the welcome. ~smiles.I hope I didn't miss anyone. At this time, I'm waiting for an authorization for a series of pain/nerve blocks. As of yet, am still being treated by various meds. It began nearly 4 years ago. I broke my foot, while working. It is Workers Comp related. I was taken to the hospital immediately, but because the swelling and bruising was so bad, it was only called a sprain. Finally as a few days passed and it only worsened, they put me through 3 days of intense physical therapy to try and work the bruising and swelling out. 6 weeks later, after being sent to a specialist, it was diagnosed as basically being broken in half. The tendens were torn from the second and third metatarsals, pretty much collapsing the center of the top of the foot.A screw was inserted. Removed 6 months later. 8.5 months of physical therapy. Wheelchair, crutches, walking boot.It was hard, but still had a good outlook back then. It was only a broken foot. People break bones daily. Figured it would just take a bit more time. Aside from the RSD, achilles tendenitis, arthritis, plantar fascitis, heel spurs, have been present for 2 years. My outlook isn't all that great anymore. Still have positive days, yet mostly negative. The hard part is my own family being in denial about my future more than I am.It is pretty much crawling up my leg, to my hip, etc. It began in the foot, yet atrophy is in my calf. Deteriorated bone and muscle mass.My pain manager is great. All I really know is if the nerve blocks do not work, a stimulator will be implanted near the spine, or similar and we will go from there.I have not worked in all this time. Nearly completely home-bound, as driving is painful. I did qualify for retraining. Yet with all the meds, and ongoing medical appointments, I haven't been able to begin.Hopefully soon. ~smiles.I do hope to learn from you all. And perhaps help others from experience as well. Am sure all of us combined can give comfort, support and education to one another. That right there brightens the day, just knowing it.Sincerely,~nevaeh
Guest guest
Greetings Jo. Thank you. I agree with you regarding families. And I think too, that as long as they can believe it doesn't exist, it may not. Or that if we look fine, we must be. Pain is something unseen. Only our actions can show them we aren't feeling well, or that our pain level might be up. A whine, a whimper, a frown. I like to smile, laugh, make others laugh, it does not mean we aren't hurting at the exact same time. That makes it difficult. It is often taken as a fine day to others or our family. I am really happy to be here. I searched and searched. I do spend alot of time, online. Have some other things ~smiles. Nice meeting you. Keep your chin up. I too have hope for that cure. Guest guest
Greetings Kenny I have heard good and not so good regarding nerve blocks. Our bodies are all different in responding to various treatments. I did cortizone therapy for a while. Then once diagnosed with RSDS the doctor stopped them immediately. I pray that your new doctor helps you and that your pain eases. Sincerely, ~nevaeh > > Hello ~nevaeh > > My name is Kenny, and I would also like to welcome you to > this group.
