Guest guest
I suffer from the itching problem as well. I know that for me the morphine makes me itch. I take Benedryl to help with the itching....I won't say that it helps much but at least when I take it I don't end up scratching until I bleed. Fortunately for me that is the only med that I take so I don't have to wonder which med it is. I guess it would be considered an allergic reaction to morphine, but it isn't a reaction that puts me in any danger. I personally think the worst part of it is that I have to keep my fingernails short....I have always had good strong long nails so to have to cut them just about kills me...hehehe! Teri -- Re: Faith/Jo Now Jo you just wrote something that really has me thinking about my meds. I have itching almost all the time. Some can see if have been outside might be bugs from that but otherwise can just all of a sudden itch on thumb, arm, leg, back, neck just where ever and not really have a bump or mark of some sort. But seems almost every day I am scratching at some part of me and just never thought of meds and now have not a clue if it is a med and how to go about figuring out if a med and which one. Any ideas Jo or anyone else? I really am frustrated with all this. Thanks Jo for leading me to this possibility. Take care and hope your still enjoying your pool. Many thoughts your way s Momma JoAnn Re: Faith/Jo Faith, A herniation of the discs is when it protrudes... that is how it can compress a nerve. LOL I, stupidly, finally took something for pain and was up all night scratching. Sometimes I forget that it isn't worth the little bit of relief I get, but I was desperate for some relief. Guest guest
liquid oxyfast seems to work better for me...i have lots of alergies to the meds pinkie > To anyone that has itching problems, > > I have been on lots of pain meds over the years due to arthritis and fibromyalgia before I even got the RSD. Ultram, morphine, percs, viocodin and any other pain medicine can cause itchiness. All cause that reaction for me...the more you take the itchier you can get. But if you do get itchy from these meds...inform your dr. because it can be a serious side affect for some...let your dr. decide if you should continue that med or not. I know my dr. took me off ultram because it was a serious side affect. Good luck all...and you are all in my prayers...Ginny
Guest guest
Hello Ginny My problem in not itching, it is breaking out, for the past 2 weeks I have been breaking out like a13yr old, my face, chest, and back, it is starting to clear up a bit, it had to be one of the meds I was on, maybe the moraphine, I am not sure,I just know it was getting pretty bad there for awhile. Guest guest
Jo just reading this......is this med you took for itching a prescription and if so what kind of med is it? Thanks for help JoAnn Re: Itching Reply Teri, JoAnn, anyone else who itches. My GP prescribed something to take before I take any pain meds to try and suppress the itching. It is called Hydroxyzine. I used to take Benadryl, but that doesn't work for me any longer. Nor does the Hydroxyzine, but it may be worth a try for you... Most meds don't do anything for me anyway. Stubborn Irish body, I guess. Hugs, Jo
