Guest guest
Hello, all, Okay, I'm new to this group, but I've searched the postings and have found no direct mention of sex -- or making love, if you will -- as a cause of rosacea flare-ups. Reading between the lines of several posts I detected discreet references but nothing specific. Dr. Nase mentioned that his love life had suffered considerably but I don't know if he was being literal or figurative. So, excuse my rather bold first posting but this is a very real issue for me, and judging by how many others have discovered that others share their symptoms, I'm betting that I am alone. Anyway, I've had rosacea for about four years that I've managed to keep under control with varying degrees of success with minocin, Noritate, watching my diet, avoiding sun, etc. I carefully monitored my habits and environment and discovered a lot of my triggers and was able to either eliminate them or avoid them. I thought I was absolutely crazy when I began to notice flare-ups, severe flare-ups, after sex, but I have reluctantly concluded that there is a definite cause and effect. I suppose this falls under the trigger category of exercise and exertion that cause flushing but I also wonder if there's a hormonal component. The realization of the link between the two was, of course, devastating. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and, if so, if they can offer any medical or psychological advice.
