Babys gums work the areola totally different than a pump does, plus just having the baby in your arms helps with the let down mentally :-) Michele Re: can't pump much From: RN@... A baby sucks and then compresses the lactiferous sinuses behind your areola that store milk. When they squeeze these the milk shoots into their mouth. The pump only does half the job.
