I would also take him to an orthopedic dr. you never know but it

could be the way the bone has gown, the hip joint misaligns, etc. I

have two brothers who had leg/feet problems that were corrected

because they were caught early.

Another, not to alarm you too much post.

My sister (who was born in 1978) was born with her hip dislocated. She

was breech and birthed vaginally, which probably had something to do

with it. My mother, though, was born with the same

ailment......strange, I know.

My sister's hip problem wasn't found until she was about 1 yo and

trying to walk. My mother described it the exact way you do. She

wanted to walk so badly, but the foot on that side would just drag. My

mother knew right after she was born that something was wrong and the

dr. kept telling her everything was fine. It was corrected and her

spirited and headstrongness got her through the hard year that

followed her diagnosis. She's fine to this day. My mom had a nerve

pinched when they repaired her hip and is very arthritic in that area.

This is something that is generally checked thoroughly at well visits

the first year of life now adays. I would be very surprised if this is

the problem your son is having, but it's definately something to check

into.

Good luck!

Kristy and Tina,

If you plan to keep him on SCD diet you could introduce whole milk

yogurt (and or half and half yogurt) at this time. That would help

with getting him some good fats. Fat is very important for children

in their first year. Although whole milk has vitamin D added, when

you heat it to make yogurt the vitamin D is destroyed. One good

reason to supplement with vitamin D.
