Hi Jen:

How are you making out with your Strep B and BV?

Hi Sherri.

Oh my Gosh, great, I am taking clindamycin cream for BV right now. I hope it does not cause the Beta strep to get worse. It was found in my urine culture actually. Do you have symptoms with it? I am also allergic to penicillin. My gyne said that I could possibly go to a infectious disease specialist to get desensitized so I could take the penicillin. That is an idea you may want to look into. I am thinking about it. It is weird because one doctor told me that alot of women have the beta-strep but it is harmless unless your pregnant. I dont get that. I mean wouldn't any kind of strep infection be dangerous? Do you also have urinary pain? I amnot sure if it is what is causing my bladder pain, but it may be. I cant believe penicillin is the only drug that can treat it. That is nuts.

Hi Jen:

I have been battling Strep B since June. I am also allergic to Penicillan. I got it after treating for a BV infection and cannot get rid of it. I have tried Levaquin, Clindamycin (pills), Clindesse (cream) and Gentamycin (shots). Now I have been using boric acid suppositories for two months. I thought it was going away, but the last week I noticed the discharge is back and I am irritated again.

If they found it in your urine, they would find it in your vagina also. I have had it found in every culture since June. Sometimes not the urine, but always the vagina. I've been at the doctors at least 15 times since June. What she told you about it is what was told to me also.

It seems impossible to get rid of without taking the Penicillan, but I can't do that either.

Let me know what you decide to do.
