I believe its probably come out more because of all the chemicals and such these days. K. -- To (ladymoonkist) Welcome here . Yes, you have found the bunch that understands. I think FM probably does go back for years and years.... long before anyone ever put a name on it. I have heard some people here who mentioned it could have been the " rheumatism " of the old days. I am so sorry you had to get this and your mother also. I do believe it has a hereditary component to it somewhere. Theories of cause are many. I think the latest is that it is believed to be a central nervous system disorder. When I was first diagnosed 4 or so years ago, it was always listed under autoimmune disorders.
